If your eyes are drying out, you should be using eye drops. When your eyes get dry, it's not just an irritation; your vision is actually decreasing. When I apply eye drops, I can actually see clearer and even further than when my eyes were dry.

If your eyes are getting dry while playing FFR, you're either playing too much, or you just have dry eyes and need to use eye drops more. Also, it helps to know the song well; you'll learn places where you can get away with blinking and not lose your combo. There are places even in heavy jumpstream where the patterns will just be easier for you, and you can afford to blink there.

I usually pick out double's in the song and if it's not a complicated pattern i know of following it then I blink there. (Unless it's a stream of them, then it's every 5-7 of them.)

Memorizing the patterns of the song before helps to.

I play the song, and if I miss, I piss and moan until I bail out. Then I try again.

But usually I blink. After the song.

I've been getting more sleep (~8 hours) the past 2-3 days and I haven't been getting dry eyes at night. I guess sleep plays a lot into how well you perform in FFR.

ive trained myself to not blink so much, and if i have to blink, then i blink at a pause or easy part of the song.

I blink like I normally would when I play. I don't think blinking has effected my ability to play.

I blink probably every 2-3 seconds when playing FFR.

i blink normally when just trying to pass/fc a song

but when trying to AAA a song, i always 'try' to blink smartly, which actually makes me blink at crucial parts and lose. the only time i have trouble with blinking is when trying to AAA

This is pretty much me, I suppose if you are used to it then it doesn't really have that much of an effect on you.
