I went and voted today. Had to wait 2 hours to do it, but I don't want to wait in line for 2 hours tomorrow either.

We had to vote on "Do you think the state should give residents affordable health care that their legislators get?"

I had no idea that was going on the ballot, and WTG Wisconsin for having like 8 different presidential candidates on the ballot.

There were five groups of two running for P/VP on my ballot. So, 10 people on that page all together.

California had all kinds of props that would raise taxes like ****. I hope no one voted yes on that high speed railway. Tax hikes like a mother****er to fund that thing.

Yeah, I meant 8 pairs. It was ridiculous. Given that I'm all-for a more than 2 party system, having all those people on there made me facepalm.

Any attempt at proof is unnecessary. Given time, it is probable we will all see.

No they're not. He's increasing taxes overall. You'll likely be seeing a nice cut, but he's increasing taxes overall. This is a good thing? Not saying McCain's tax policy is much better, but at least he's not increasing taxes.

Not because they're voting Republican, but because they don't do their research.

You won't be finding any of those folks here. The youth will typically only vote Republican based on facts. They're not easily swayed by stupid **** like religious-based bullcrap. They'll be voting on the ideological basis of wanting smaller federal government, lower spending, lower taxes, etc.

I just don't want another Bush-Type government, because, no offense (sorry if this is false), but I don't think the Bush government did an awesome job..

It's funny, because neither primary candidates are proposing "Bush-Type" government.

And aside from Bush's war mongering that McCain plans to see through to a clean finish, Obama's governmental stance is closer to Bush's stance, really. Expanded government, that is. McCain's proclaimed platform is that government is too big and spending and **** needs to get knocked out. Obama is planning on expanding spending and putting more power in the government; the sort of thing Bush has done during his tenure. McCain might go back on this, but that's not what his platform is.

I don't know Afro, if I remember correctly, the government gets most of its funds from taxes. If that is the case, higher taxes could go towards universal healthcare. Maybe I'm wrong, but if that is correct then wouldn't higher taxes be a good thing in the long run?

Sorry, but I think people should be self reliant. Why should those with more money have to foot the bill for those with less money?

If a person wants health care, they should be required to pay it themselves, rather than taking money from the rich to pay for it. If they can't afford it, they're not trying hard enough or are making bad decisions (such as having a bunch of children when you can't afford it). **** them.

Actually if you read the prob, the amount taxes would go up would not be noticeable. We are talking pennies. Most of the money is already raised for the project. It's just a matter of the public saying "go ahead, do it"

I'm completely for it. It's time we start looking at ways to address the traffic problem throughout california. The best way to do that is promote alternate forms of transit. As a few people know, I sit in my car and drive an hour 30 or more to work every morning through rush hour LA traffic. Trust me when I say I wish there was a cheaper/faster way to get to work.

Tax increases are not always bad. Best way to make them not so impactful? Get rid of the projects that are pointless. Get rid of the GOV. who spends like crazy. Most importantly, vote smart. That small sentence they give you on the ballot is written by politicians to get you to vote one way or the other without telling you the bad sides.

I plan on not voting. This has been my plan for a long long time. No, I will not use my vote to vote for whoever you want, because if I was going to vote I would pick a candidate I wanted.
Basically I have faith in the electoral college seeing as they were created because they thought that the public would be too , for lack of a better term on hand, stupid. While I don't consider myself stupid, even though there are many reasons that I should, I don't believe that I know enough about either candidate to make a smart vote on my part.

Also, relevant: A lot of people know my stance on voting and because of my somewhat unusual stance, if you can call it that, I received this video in an email a few days ago. Pretty good and funny video.

Title edited to reflect the day.

After reading some posts, I realize this is the first time some of you are voting.

You don't just go in there and hit a big button that says "Barack Obama" or "John McCain". Be prepared to answer some budget questions (yes or no) and vote for city and state legislators as well.

It still only takes like thirty seconds but if you're wondering what's taking the people in front of you so damn long, well, now you know.

I'd rather keep the fight overseas than have the fight at home since Obama wants to take our ICBMs offline and discontinue research for future weapons and armor.

Also, I could never vote for someone who can not even stand at attention, face the flag, and put their hand over their heart.
