I'm hardly on the comp, unless it's raining or I have nothing to do. Most of the time I'm gone out.

I honestly don't see why school is usefull. I'm on the internet so much that I learn more on here than I do at school.

I disagree with a lot of people in this thread that a lack of a high school diploma automatically means your life is over. I have a GED since I was retarded and didn't think to test out (currently in college), and I'm making a good bit of money and am well off so far. But I also have some slightly extraordinary circumstances. Bottom line for you, though:

I could give you the cop-out answer of "oh screw the system, you're going to be a renegade warrior on the internets and life will be GRAET LAWL!"

..but instead I'm going to give you an honest answer: stop being a whiny, lazy bitch, and get your high school diploma unless you're going to test out. Don't be so naive to think you're going to make it alright working at the nearby burger joint for 8 hours a day.

And **** French, you need to work on your English.

just poking my head in, and I only skimmed a lot of the thread, but it seems like a lot of people don't seem to be able to follow what's going on

He's doing poorly in school. His father owns a business. He would enjoy doing this sort of work.

The ideal path that I can see would be to get a GED while working in the family business. If it turns out that you can't stand doing that for the rest of your life, take the GED into post secondary education (be it community college or trade school). A GED is called a GED for a reason; it is to show that you have equivalent knowledge to that of one who graduated from high school. It is not a bad thing, and actually, it can be a shortcut to success if you're going down a path like Mr. EnR here seems to plan on. And especially if you're anxious to get into the real world, this can be your best shot.

You do NOT need a college degree to do a lot of different sorts of jobs, and folks with GEDs (or even normal high school diplomas) are NOT limited to working McDonald's*. Furthermore, some people actually ENJOY the sort of jobs that EnR is looking at. Oh, and by the way, connections are often more important than specific qualifications (particularly at lower levels of primarily "unskilled" work), and I'd say that your father owning the business is a key component to your ability to succeed in this instance.

Intelligence has no link to a person's drive to "succeed" in academia. If he defines personal success differently than you, that doesn't make him stupid. If anything, that makes him enlightened for recognizing that success can be anything so long as it's what you want.

*hi, I have only a high school diploma and I make a bit over minimum wage plus tips that can be anywhere from ~10$~50$ per night depending on the night, occasionally with extremes upwards of 100$. Definitely a step up from McDonald's.
