I wouldn't say that Vista was better, much less much better than XP. Although if you're going to have this laptop for a number of years, it would probably be a good idea to get the most recent OS, just for compatibility reasons. I think SP1 came out for Vista too so a lot of the problems should be fixed.Back to "Back to Earth"

Yea, my plan is to get a pretty decent laptop to serve me through 4 years of college then most likely buy a better one after i graduate.

I got my laptop last year (around May) for 2k....It's a desktop replacement and the 'laptop' qualities are few and far between. Anyways, I would be very likely to get a laptop with XP for now, until Vista has /all/ of the kinks out (instead of some of them) and becomes more compatible with everything. Wait to upgrade to Vista, that's what I'm doing.
