In a global sense, third world countries don't matter. People like to pretend they matter. But they don't. There isn't anything significant about a third world country. Poor starving people? We have that here in the U.S. Where's the humanitarian effort to help starving and diseased Americans?

Tell me Bono, why should I care about Africa? Why should I care about Iraq? I've never met an African. I've never met an Iraqi. But I encounter dozens of homeless people a day walking to and from school.

Except for the majority of the country is starving/poverty stricken, unlike the United States. But yeah, I totally understand what you're saying. I live a few miles from detroit. I basically feel like im in a third world country when im there. Except that the reason these people are starving and poor is because they make bad choices and choices and would rather inject heroin or snort the crackrock.

If most of Africa died, it would not be missed. It does not contribute to our country just like the Martians don't contribute to our economy. (Okay, except Kenya and parts of South Africa. They're pretty mixed into the global economy. But ignore them.) Hell, they don't even contribute to their own economy. Replace Africa with something. Perhaps ocean. More fishing land and maybe in the future, we can start industrializing on the ocean (floating communities and countries!) and we'd have more room to do so. Better yet, just empty land. Like when you start a sim game, all there is is grass. Nice, freshly cut grass. All Africa is is trouble these days. Darfur? Ugh. What's next after Darfur?

Africa was just a huge gene pool mix-up as explained and practically beaten to death by the essays in The Ancestor's Tale. We don't need it anymore. It can sink under the ocean for I care, save Kenya. Good tourism there.
