                I'd have to say gnats. They fly all around your face and head, crawl all over you (and inside your ears) and they're too small to find and kill quickly.
                --Actually, they might tie with files as most annoying.

                        Also, if you hate flies so much, why is it in your username?

                        Personally I don't really mind flies. I would have to say the worst are ticks. Especially for the fact that they gave my mom chronic lyme disease, which has incapacitated her for years.

                        Edit: I just realized you said "insect", and ticks are arachnids, but eh.....

                                                            oooooor bees i don't even want to remember how many times i've been outside when a bee/wasp landed on me and looked like it was going to sting me.
