Yeah it's been debunked by snopes (not betting on 100% but the story is a bit ridiculous) so I wouldn't worry too much about it.

Also, who the hell in their cracked out mind would let a syringe full of heroin sit in a ball pit when they would (probably) keep it themselves?

Well, I have to say I cringed when I read it. But I'm glad Snopes has looked into this one. Still, though false, Snopes said that such a danger is very real. I don't know if I'll ever let my future kids play in ball pits, if I ever even come across a ball pit anyway.
