I have a very, very strong opinion on this.
The fact of the matter is it's a simple process of separating two things: FACT V FICTION
We can laugh at those things, and enjoy them, because we know they are simply fiction. A story, if you will, something that is not real.
However, you get people like, (I hate to use this example, but I will anyway) school shooters who cannot differentiate this fact. These are the people who should not be watching violent things or playing violent games.
This also can apply to the "R Rating" and "M Rating" in moves and video games. Generally, when we're younger, we think everything is real and we cannot see the fiction in life, like a child getting frightened/nightmares from watching a movie. But, as we grow older and mature, we learn to separate the two evenly.
