    That guy "got shot" like I "got shot". Didn't hurt and he walked away from it. Getting peppered is nothing serious.

            jewpin, I require more than a subordinate clause to understand where you're going with that.

            Also, I edited intelligence into the thread title. The rest of the OP, however, requires action by the poster, and considering the thread subject, I doubt that'll happen.

                First of all, it is illegal to shoot someone in the face even if they don't die. Obviously.

                Second of all, breaking the law does not require someone to press charges. You will be arrested for shooting someone if they don't die, and don't press charges. The only time you can evade arrest on the 'press charges' thing is when the person against whom you've committed an offense can legally claim you didn't. I.E. Trespassing.

                Dick didn't get arrested for two reasons. The first: because it was an accident. I'm pretty confident that the vice president did not look at one of his lawyer friends and decide to commit murder. He could have been charged for using his rifle while drunk. This is what the controversy was over. There was speculation that Cheney was drunk when he shot his friend, but since Cheney waited an entire day at his friends ranch before reporting any of this, he had time to sober up if he was drunk.

                So legally, there is nothing (and never was) to charge him with.
