I got a 1100 something in 7th grade (1600 scale) and a 2000something on the PSAT sophomore year (2400 scale obviously). I'm taking the real test next semester, just registered yesterday. I hoping for 2200 or so. I took the PSATs recently but haven't recieved my scores back from that.

Guido, 1170 was my best score. It's also a good average, because I only took it twice. The first time I got an 1110. The second time was 1160, but the Math got better than the original run, and it's the best of the two categories added together.

If there's one thing you should know about me, it's that I don't like standardized tests. Especially those that are given at 7 in the morning. Come on now, that's no way to measure someone's knowledge. Oh, and I was more focused on figuring out how to wipe my nose from the BLEEDING COLD TEMPERATURES without bothering the other kids in the class.

I will conclude by saying I'm fairly certain my Math grade was at least 60 points higher than my English grade, which puts English at like 520. It might be lower.

You know why? Because the test was like "what does this story mean to you. choose a, b, c, or d." And I'm like "wtf. None of these choices accurately depict what the story means to me." Another reason was the analogies using words nobody would ever use in any context.

As for Math, I never took Trig, Pre-Cal, etc. in High School. That didn't help much either. Yet I still graduated with honors. Imagine that.

If I took the SAT with the writing portion (writing: the one thing I am good at doing), I would have scored much higher.

I'm surprised you could even get out of high school w/o pre-calc. At my old HS it was almost a chore to make a schedule that didn't have at least one of those maths.

As a matter of fact, I had two more math classes than were required for the advanced degree.

Computer Science counted as math. CS, CS++, APCS.

Oh, and I got a 1 on the APCS exam. The only AP course I ever took.

Yeah, like I said, I am not smart. I also don't try.

They took out the analogies section on the SAT squeek. What screwed me over was the vocab and the grammar. I did fine on the "understanding the passages" but it was the ZOMG IS THIS PREDICATE NOMINATIVE that screwed me over. The vocab was retarded... I mean, there were words that I have never seen in my life on that test, and I find it hard to believe that these types of tests are written for the "average" American student. Since when is an "average" American student going to know what a litote or a zeugma is? I do now, but that didn't help me much when I was taking the damn thing. Math was easy for me, just the new "written answer" part is what messed me up. I don't know... I just didn't really like the format. At least I know what to expect now that I've taken it once and I got a feel for how crappy it is. I mean... I'm very good at taking tests, I passed the AP euro AP sophomore year with a 3, studying the night before, while everyone was studying for 3 months and got a 2. The difference for me was... The APs aren't broken up into 10 sections and the AP is very organized. Do this. Break. Do this. Do this. Done. The SAT was... OK NOW CLASS LETS DO THIS. OK GO. OK STOP. OK GO. OK STOP. OK GO. OK BREAK. OK GO. OK STOP. OK GO. WHOOPS I FORGOT TO KEEP TRACK OF WHEN YOU ARE SUPPOSED TO STOP. OH WELL READY GO. STOP. GO. I mean... yeah I'm sorta ranting but I just don't think that this test is at all reasonable. Well, I'm actually happy with my score because my sister studied for hours and hours and prepared and she only got 10 points higher. heh. I guess I'm ready for next time?

I hate the damned math sections cause all of the the questions are so freaking easy, but you just get some wrong...

You should probably pick up a College Board book, look at the important parts for a few hours and that should = 1xx+ point increase

Yeah, at our school, most ppl got 3s studying like mad throughout the year and im like..."meh ill just study a few hours the last week" and i got a 4
