You didn't hit your mother until it became a matter of doing nothing or preventing her from beating your sister. Surely that is something that can be taken into account.

That's like saying a rapist can't be prosecuted because the victim fought back.

^, you need to call the police next time, and then call a child abuse hotline. You seem fairly articulate for a 15 year old, I'm sure you can accurately convey exactly what's going on to some professionals that can take care of your mom.

i dont get why they cant build a case for that i mean basicly when you hit her it was self defense since she hit you back and since your sister didnt do anything and your mom attacked her for no reason that should be enough to build a case for child abuse

I don't know really because my dad said that he called his attorney and he said that you couldn't really do anything in this case. I know I should have called the police but I wasn't thinking. I mean, this has happened only once before, and it wasn't nearly as bad. I'm still in shock right now, but I've been able to avoid my mom since friday night so I'm doing fine now I guess. My dad said he is trying to get an apartment near my school so the 3 of us can move there, away from my mom.
