Long Answer with a story: Yes. And here is my DDR story.
One day, I was walking down a dark alley, when I was approached by some hooligans. Me and my crew initaited a dance off to the death, A West Side Story style... With our mad DDR rythms, and fast feet, they were so confused, the pulled out knives and comitted ritual suicide!
And that, my friend, is how DDR helped me in real life.

"A new take on the epic fantasy genre... Darkly comic, relatable characters... twisted storyline."
"Readers who prefer tension and romance, Maledictions: The Offering, delivers... As serious YA fiction, I’ll give it five stars out of five. As a novel? Four and a half." - Liz Ellor
It has been the conclusion of a number of psychological and physiological studies recently (it's 1:30 right now, so I don't feel like digging up the articles, though if anyone is a stickler about it, I may) that gamers in general, not just games like DDR, are, on average, in possession of quicker reflexes, better dexterity and precision with thier hands, and are able to track a considerably higher number of independant variables than the normal person. Many gamers are also more laid back concerning life views. Even if a gamer has never played a FPS )or hates the genre), they are much more likely to be a sharpshooter than an average person.
Every time I hear some lackwit saying I'm 'wasting away' and should 'go play football or something', I laugh in their damned face.
oink is not only the biggest but g.a.y.e.s.t postwhore ever to show his face on the ffr forum.... 250 posts in 16 days..wtf.. i have like 94 for 10 months (of being a member)
Anyways, I was really fat before I started playing ddr, at least 190-200. Now, I'm not fat (unless you're anorexic or something). Now I'm 161, and 5'11. I have NO IDEA where my weight is but I'm not fat, I mean just look at the pics in my user gallery.
TC: I have the article somewhere in my room. I'm sure it was done more than once, but it was recorded by Scientific American magazine. It showed reflex change between tetris players and MOHAA players (there was probably also a control). They played an hour a day for a week.
Tetris players got no improvment with their reflexes.
MOHAA players got a SHITLOAD better.
And these were people who had never played video games, like middle aged people.
yeah if its me taking a metal dance pad to your head bean
quit being a postwhore
My DDR story: three years ago i weighed 210 pounds at 6'3" tall. now thats not that bad, but now im like 185-180. now if thats not improvment then you can all go get anal raped by some clown from idaho.
DDR has been beneficial to me, it helps me cope with everyday anxities. I'm sure a lot of people can say the same.
Judging by your...interesting...av, I'd have to say you still have many anxieties. Not normal ones.
Also, DDR can get you in shape, but that's about it. I've noticed that DDR, except with really fast and/or hard songs that make you stay on the beat, the music is really a bit uneccessary. You could play with the sound off and probably do pretty well.
FFR, however, is a different story. Because you're only using your fingers, the combos can be much faster and more intricate than those on DDR. I mean it's gotta up your hand eye coordination, or increased reflex time, or something. Also, the music is ESSENTIAL. Try playing a hard song with the music off once...provides interesting results.
