A split second is a LOT of time with a 99 MPH fastball is coming at you.

Billy Wagner would be throwing that or 102mph. I have only seen him throw 102mph twice.

Look at Rafael Palmeiro. He still has a realistic shot at the Hall despite using steroids.

Jeff Bagwell also has a realistic shot at going to the Hall and he only has 449 home runs and a messed up right shoulder. In fact, both Craig Biggio and Jeff Bagwell have a diffinant shot at going to the hall in the first ballot.

You think I hate Bonds just because he's a jerk? You don't think that compromising the integrity of the game may have something to do with it?

Rafael Palmerio was my favorite baseball player since the age of 4, when I would watch O's games and call out "Raffy!" "Raffy!". When I found out he used steroids, I couldn't watch the O's. I just didn't want to hear about it. So i watched the Nats, and became a fan of them. I don't like Raffy anymore because he took steroids. He was one of the nicest guys in the game, but if you take steroids, I don't like you. Sosa was the same way. Likable guy, got McGwire to open up in front of the media. I liked him, until I found out he took steroids (and corked his bats)

There's a difference between the advantages. Whatever advantage Ruth may have had was out of his control, and most important, HE DIDN'T KNOWINGLY GIVE HIMSELF AN ADVANTAGE BY DOING STUFF THAT WENT AGAINST THE RULES OF THE GAME. Now, Bonds, on the other hand...

Then you're just irritatingly elitist, along with a good chunk of the rest of the country.

But as long as you're arguing semantics, I don't recall it ever being proved that Bonds knowingly took steroids.

Read Game of Shadows. There's a reason why:

A.)Congress started a perjury investigation based on the book relating to whether or not Bonds lied about steroids
B.)Major League Baseball launched an investigation into steroids based on the book
C.)Bonds hasn't sued for libel/slander (forgot which is which)

And I'm interested to know how I'm elitist because I believe the game should be played by the rules

I'm not elitist. I have a different opinion than you on a subject I have extensive knowledge about because I live and breathe baseball, have done many school research reports about steroids and why players who use them should get asterisks, and because I take a personal interest when it comes to this topic. I've got Game of Shadows next to me, and if you compare his testimony "My trainer said 'Here, have this, it's flaxseed oil' and i was just like 'Whatever, man'" to his doccumented personality "He wanted control over everything. He meticulously checked everything he was given", you can see that theres enough truth in this book for both Congress and MLB to take a good long hard look at steroids in baseball, and for Bonds not to sue the book for libel
