In the mean time you should take as many benzodiazepines as possible.

Benzodiazepines (like Valium) would not help at all, since they act on the central nervous system, the GABA receptors of the lymbic system which, granted have an effect on striated muscle fibers. Striated muscle fibers are the ones you can volutarily contract, like your biceps, and that is what makes valium work as a inhibitor of muscles spasms.

However, heartbeats depend on specialized muscle fibers in the heart itself, not on any kind of nervous inputs. So taking benzodiazepines, especially with the possibility of a heart condition, is not a good idea at all. In fact, it would increase the strain on the heart, since the return of venous blood depends on striated muscle contraction. So please, if you have no idea what you're talking about, don't give pseudo-medical advice... Mismedication does not help and will make things worse. Agh, I could go into a rant here but I won't...

To Malreynolds:
Since what you have is, from how you describe it, a form of arhytmia, you'll most likely be subjected to an ECG which is a pretty straightforward exam. That will tell the doctors what, if anything, is wrong with your heart or its biological pacemaker... But with your age, I wouldn't worry about it being anything serious, odds are it is something you can treat with some simple antibiotics. Hopefully you can keep us updated on how you're doing.

I think I have had a heart palpitation. It was like 3 AM and I couldn't sleep and my heart beat kept rising. Then I went to sleep and I was fine. I think it could have been to much caffeine too.

im 12 right? ok like ten years ago when i was like two... i was tryin to get to sleep
my dad kept screaming at me u kno so i do what any other kid does.....sticks his head under his pillow. about ten seconds later i realize im not breathing.i look at my chest ( i was sleepin witout a shirt) and it was blue. everything in sight goes purple...i wake up in the hospital....they tell me that my heart stopped. it was stopped and i was really dead for 5 minutes...

oh well at least i can say that ive been dead and i can live to tell about it lol
