I think a box is about 1/4 marshmallows. I don't know how much cereal is in a box, but take that amount divided by 4, then figure out how many of those is in a gallon. That amount times $3.00 (or whatever boxes cost) is the amount he spent.

One of the questions said more than 2, less than 20. So, let's assume that there were 20 boxes. If each costs $3, that would be about $60, and be about a $40 profit. But it's less than 20 so there was about a $50 profit.
