The German Army (Bundeswehr, I think) uses the Israeli UZI. Most Israeli citizens who pack heat prefer WWII-era German pistols.

A bayonet would be handy if you ran out of ammo and had no time to reload or draw a sidearm and the dude you want to kill is right in front of you, a foot and a half away. :P
The fact that you rarely need a calibur so large is completely immaterial (except if you want to destroy, oh, a helicopter). You want this gun. :P

The 14.5mm version of it is basically the most powerful small-arms, bullet-shooting kind of thing in the world. Another site about it remarked that firing it prodeced like 23 thousand joules of energy. Holy shit.
Everything made in South Africa is huge (not really, but they have some immense stuff). LIke, this one shotgun that weighs 40 pounds because the slug it fires is just so immense. :P
Okay, yes, I am slightly a gun nerd. But by no means white trash.
