BULL. SHIT. WTF LD?! -20 windchill and they cancel school? windchill was at -32 at my place today, and that's not even CLOSE to being cold enough to having school canceled. Damned americans...they'd die up here in canada :PAnanana: Girls are so complicated. That\'s why I\'m not a lesbian.

You will hate me when I tell you this. We get out of school when there's 3 INCHES OF SNOW ON THE GROUND. We also don't go if wind chill gets below 0. xD

I hope people realize that things are different depending on latitude.
For example, midway through the country, as per my locale, 1/2 inch of ice on the roads that is not cleared by 6am constitutes a 2-hour delay. If it is still uncleared by 8pm, school is closed. Snow usually requires about 2-4 inches for a close. Ice is the determining factor, though.
Fact is, the further north you go, the more prepared and the more used to the weather they are. Canada doesn't mind 3 inches of snow because they see that in fall sometimes. Several feet, maybe you're in for some school closings. LD is in New York someplace, so I can see where that would cause some problems.
He's probably failing to mention the ice on the streets.
