I was SO good a whack-a-gator back in the day, motherfuckers!

And Squeek and Jewpin are right. And flypie is not governmentally aware enough to dislike Bush (she probably just listens to what her parents have to say about the presidential situation).

    Signature subject to change.

why we originally went into iraq is a very muddy, multi-faceted answer. It boils down to the fact that Iraq was a mistake. Not the fact that we enetered Iraq, that I feel was inevitable. Its the timing and the methodology of how we did it that was wrong. We started off on the right foot by going into afghanistan to chase down the Taliban and attempt to both destroy Al-Qaeda's sanctuaries in hopes of driving them into the open so as to be eradicated. From there we then commited a string of follies that lead us to the shithole of a situation we are in now. Instead of committing our full offensive forces into the destruction and reconstruction of Afghanistan's government we hurriedly split off into Iraq before we finished the work that needed to be done in Afghanistan. This basically in turn divided our leverage there and dulled our military prowess. Iraq, as much as a threat as it posed, was at the time contained between the the Kurds in the north and the Shiites in the south. All we had to do was supply those two entities with sufficient supplys to handle their business and we had an extremely powerful mechanism to subdue and contain the Sunnis without having to apply direct military force until Afghanistan was secured. Alas, that was then and this is now. We are now in the most literal sense stuck between a Scylla and Charybdis. We can either stay in Iraq and take our losses and eventually, however long it may take and the projection for that number is getting bigger and bigger, rebuild Iraq in the image of democracy that we so desperately fight for. Or we can pull out and create one of history's most devastating political power vacuums that we have ever seen. Kerry plans to go with the latter of the two options. Its an ugly situation and nobody will be the winner. Its a matter of how big are the losses.

My friend's cousin just graduated from West Point, and is going to Iraq. He said that he has been spending time with some Iraquis who have been saying how much better it is there because there is no threat of Saddam on them and stuff, and how they think the war has had a positive effect. There you go, straight from the horse's mouth, the people that live there know better than any of you do. The War in Iraq is not a negative thing for all of you who think it is.

All of you people who also think Bush is a dumb person need to think twice. You can't be dumb to lead an entire country.

Bush is as dumb as a fox.

Chardish: Too bad Kerry proposed a middle-class tax CUT. CUT, not massive addition.

The people he was hiking the tax up for would be the upper percent or two of the tax brackets. You lose.

Yeah, that's going to happen. He'll reduce taxes further to pay for all the spending he proposed. His "politician-before-candidate" nature is going to make him shoot himself in the foot after that "Read my lips: No new taxes" type speech he gave in the last debate.

Oh? What's this? Kerry voting to make Clinton's tax on the wealthy apply to small businesses and family farms?

                          Do your research.

For example, he voted against the Bush tax cuts in 2001 and 2003, which lowered the income tax rates for the lowest income brackets. He repeatedly voted against eliminating the marriage penalty--the government's practice of taxing dual income middle-class married couples at a higher rate than they would be taxed if they lived together in sin. He also supported the provision in President Clinton's 1993 tax hike that increased taxes on the elderly middle-class by taxing the Social Security benefits of people earning a mere $32,000 per year or more.

He once advocated a 50-cent per gallon gas tax increase, has voted for higher gas taxes in the Senate, and also for higher taxes on entrepreneurs who produce oil domestically. He defended higher gas taxes on the middle class as an environmental necessity. He has repeatedly supported higher "sin" taxes on alcohol and tobacco.

Kerry likes to pose as a champion of small business. But his proposal to raise income tax rates for those earning $200,000 per year would uniquely target small businesses, which frequently pay their taxes through the individual tax returns of the owners. According to the Joint Economic Committee of Congress, two-thirds of all personal income tax returns in the top bracket (which Kerry would tax at a rate of 40%) report income derived from an ownership interest in a small business.

Kerry has a long record of supporting tax increases and opposing tax cuts.

I'm shocked by the number of conservatives on this board. I thought the number would be much smaller.

Anyway, I am for Kerry, but don't really feel like arguing here.
