I never considered Red Hot Chilli Peppers punk...ever. Go with Hard Rock and Metal. And boo MTV and the radio. All they play is mainsteam stuff...and quite frankly, most of it is terrible.

I personally like Metallica (OMGOMG I ACTUALLY SPELT IT RIGHT) and the songs I heard by slipknot I really enjoyed. So, IMO, go with Metal or Hard Rock, or just plain Rock. Ozzy, White Zombie, The Beatles (Old School isn't bad!), Led Zepplin (I know I messed up the name...SORRY!), ummm...The Eagles...yeah, that's all I can think of right now. If you listen to some of their stuff, I'm pretty sure you'll like it, but everyone is different so...well, it couldn't hurt to try

Metal isn't all about screaming...at all.
Yeah, some metal has screaming, like death metal, black metal, some viking metal, etc.

But jeez, styles like thrash or speed or others has singing, although harshER singing. Of course varying greatly depending on the band.

But styles like heavy metal or prog of course! Power metal, especially!
They have great singing. Great high, falsetto singing. With lots of great vibrato :P :P

Blink 182 is a founding band in Pop Rock, which is what i think they are. Their album's after "Enema of the state" Are more emo based pop punk, but "Dude Ranch" was more along the line of punk. Still emo ish, but a lot heavier and faster. Some of their best stuff is before "Enema of the state" it's too bad not many people knew them before that.
