I have a friend who spends hours on his Warhammer 40k maps. I don't get it...never liked it, found it too expensive and time consuming. Although I will say that yours are badass.

Good news, I didn't have to present today(i had anticipated this anyway) because we ran out of time. I have the whole weekend to work on it. any suggestions? I could really use the help.

Well, the biggest thing would be to add a slope. That would help a lot. Maybe put some barb wire on the slope. Also, give the slope/wall/hill what the hell ever a color more like the beach sand, getting darker progressively to resemble the more earthen sand.

I think the hard part would be making the slope not look awkward, because it wouldn't be very long. Also the blending of the sand/dirt colors. But that's my opinion on how to make it leet.
