Dj's are the people who work hard? hardly. I could by some EQ, get on a table, spin a few discs having no idea what i'm doing, call it "My" Remix, and be DJ Dan, that'd be gay, but i'm sure there's people who do it.

And yes it is very easy to be crappy at playing prerecorded music. Primarily if you talk too much, don't listen to your listeners, don't put on what people want to hear, play too much of the same stuff/same artist, etc. You have to keep your listeners happy. I'd like to see you try it sometime. But no, you seem to be content at just passing judgment and making yourself out to be some kind of musical elitist. In short, go away.

nobody calls it a musical jockey except me because... i dont know. nobody cares enough, i guess. i have too much time on my hands, so i create my own dictionary. i like it, though, the definitions make sense.

if it's so difficult to shut up and write down on a little notepad when someone comes up to the DJ table requesting a song, then playing it later on and crossing the song off the list, then what's the education system like in your area? =P

usually a MJ (i'm not writing it all out anymore, you know what it stands for by now) is from the area if he's doing a local function, such as a school dance, and knows the types of music to play. if they're not from the area, but they're still doing the dance, then said MJ can usually guess his way through it. if they're at a dance, they want pop music, some hip hop, a general time for slow songs, and a nice finisher. that's about it. depending on whatever songs are popular at the time, said MJ will get them beforehand.

now, i've never been a MJ or DJ, and i just did a how-to on MJ'ing a school dance. it can't be that hard.

i had a friend who thought it was super easy to DJ...

So we threw a party, and he was like, "i wanna dj it too, i've been practicing a couple weeks.. i got some records".. He gets on.. puts on the first record.. It plays..tries to beatmatch the second..he gets shot down.. and then realizes how difficult it is to pull off a seamless mix..

Later we did a game we play periodically, where someone picks a song, and then someone else has to put a mix to it, back and forth, until someone just can't do it.. The songs get more and more random, makes it tougher, and kinda illustrates how tough it is to just beatmatch and sync on the spot.. He couldn't do it there either..

Back to point... anyone who thinks DJing is easy needs to shut the fuck up, because you obviously don't know what you're talking about..

As for Chardish and LD, i would consider them DJs.. And I don't know how much my word matters, but I would like to think it holds some weight here, at least.

I once went into this place and they had a few turn tabels set up.. so i gave it a shot.. took me about 20 minutes to actually mix a song properly. But ever since then.. its easy for me.

Trust me.. someone just cant walk up to a turn table and mix... I think i had an advantage because i've been around music (dj'ing) for almost 5 years.
