if he was upgrading previous hardware, I would agree with waiting for the "next best thing"
but since he's building it new, it would be way better (and cheaper) to buy hardware that was "new" a year/year-and-a-half ago, then upgrade separate pieces as they come out

Well I am an enthusiast and I never mentioned anything about cost limitations. DDR4 ram requires a new motherboard and so would the new cpu. You would basically have to replace the whole computer anyway which is why it is worth waiting.

I still don't think it is relevant if you are upgrading most of your computer or getting a new one to wait for these big upgrades.

Well I need/would like a new computer in the next few weeks, rather than waiting months.

Tech is also usually stupidly expensive when it first comes out, too.

by the time ddr4 is relevant for anything other than specialized purposes, a new RAM technology will be in the works lol

You could try not whining about every little thing. I gave a legitimate thing to consider without forcing anything on anyone and you just have to come and complain about it.
