packs with music from other games/hobbies: it's neat. I probably do prefer those packs to other ones.

what makes me go for did insanes: progression of skill. pretty much any hobby I take up, that's what drives me to continue.

I got out of the competitive phase a few months ago. I still play but only to kill some time and have fun.

seriously speaking I think the rhythm gaming community because of how many elements from other communities it adds totally diversifies the interests and sub communities of the forums. Stepmania is always the same, and is basically open source music distribution. I've learned about all kinds of different artists and various games though SM and it's pretty coul.

I spend a lot of time updating the SM wiki which I doubt more than 5 people actually care about but it was something that interested me. These days I play rhythm games for ~5 hours on some days while other times I go for days without playing, not as driven to do that as I've been in the past. I feel guilty about the fact that I've only ever made a couple serious attempts at note charting and it was years ago...unless the song is 40 seconds long or less I just seem to lose motivation to keep going

Rhythm games aren't my only gaming area in the slightest though, I've recently gotten super interested in speedrunning; more on the side of watching speedruns rather than actually attempting runs myself (I need old consoles welp).

This community has opened the doors to stuff like speedrunning though, and it was through another community (Elastomania) that I found this rhythm gaming community.
