After Hurricane Ike, we were out of power for nearly a month. Tree limbs needed to be gathered and put on the curb for eventual pickup. I didn't go to work for most of that time because power was out.

When I wanted to eat... MREs. Pretty good stuff. I got the spicy food from the bunch of MREs my dad bought.

edit: We had a generator, but it wouldn't power the ENTIRE house. We just kept to the basics and used it to charge phones and such.
