Hmm I'm gonna try out this 'Tales' series starting from the beginning with 'Tales Of Destiny' as Phantasia is only in Japanese

Note: I'm not good with writing or speaking my thoughts/ideas, what i have written makes perfect sense to me but to you im not so sure. I apologise in advance.

It sounds like love is an amazing feeling. I guess its like dinosaurs, they sound amazing but I'm never gonna see one.

I own Tales of Destiny 1 and 2 and they are great for being part of the series early on.

But yeah, definitely get Tales of the Abyss. I was lucky and found it used at GameStop a while back but you're probably not going to find it there anymore. Use an online store like Squeek said.

Also about Tales of Vesperia. The story isn't bad at all, it's just vastly inferior to that of Tales of the Abyss, primarily because Tales of the Abyss has one of the best storylines of any game ever. Vesperia also has its share of amazing characters, though Abyss has more.

Let me put it this way: Vesperia is fantastic, but Abyss even more so (in terms of story and characters). Battle-wise, Vesperia far outpaces Abyss. If you can't find Abyss, definitely get Vesperia.
That's pretty much what I was trying to say.

And the reason I disliked SO3 was that it felt more like a fighting game than an RPG. All of the RPG elements were there, yes, but they felt tacked-on. Also hated the combat system, but that might just be me. Generic skills should not cost HP, and you shouldn't die from running out of MP. Also there should've been a targeting system rather than make you swing at midair. I think Tales has it so right. It took them a while to make 3D work but once they got it, it was beautiful.

          I've always wanted to try this game, but I don't have a PS2. =d

Re: It may be a little old

There are Tales games on practically every system. SNES, PS1, PS2, Gamecube, Wii, Xbox 360, PSP, DS

Though a lot of the games stay in Japan, particularly the DS titles. The Wii title we just got was an abomination. The second PS2 title was bad too.

            These are the good ones:

Minus Legendia because that was horrible.

Re: It may be a little old

Yeah, Legendia almost ruined the series for me. I couldn't finish 10 hours of it, and most reviews stated that the game only actually started to get good or challenging at the 20 hour mark, and then there was an additional 40 hours. Too much to slog through to get through anything good.

Abyss was really great. I still haven't finished it, but it's one of the few games I've put over 20 hours into and stopped playing. I'll probably go back to it in the future at some point, but for now I have too many other games to play.

But it's all good. I got my copy of Abyss at GameStop for $28 a few months back, and the guy who sold it to me had been working that morning when the game came in. And he was insanely jealous that I picked it up, as employees aren't allowed to set aside games to buy once they go on the shelves and he had literally bought the game off a person, put it on the shelf, and I walked in.

Did the same thing with Silent Hill 2, same guy.

Re: It may be a little old

I may be attempting Tales of Innocence again in a couple months because there is a translation for it on GameFaq. It's not complete yet and I'm pretty sure he isn't going to do skills and skits, but he updates it frequently. Besides, I can figure out the skills by myself and the skits will just be one part of the experience I'll be missing. But hey, that's okay because I'll at least understand what's going on in the main story. From what I've played already in Tales of Innocence, the battle in 3D works out.

Although Tales of Tempest isn't a mothership title, I wouldn't try it. I decided to try it out because I found a translation for it and the game was terrible.

Re: It may be a little old

My friend picked up my used copy at Blockbuster for $14 for my birthday =D

I'm at the end of my second playthrough already and it's absolutely amazing.
I did attempt the Nebilim battle on Very Hard but I just gave up for the moment. Seriously, 3 seconds in and she casted mystic cage. And out of like 640000 hp I got to like 590000 after 5 minutes. Definitely need to do some extra leveling =S

But anyway, it definitely has the best story of any game I've ever played and the battles are amazing. The music is good too. I recommend this for everyone =D

She always casts Mystic Cage at the start of Very Hard / Unknown battles. You can knock her over to stop it but it'll come out eventually anyway.

                    It's fun, isn't it?

It's still a hard fight at level 200, even on Very Hard.

I bought this game, but never even started it for some odd reason. My cousin has this game at the moment. I say this for many things - One day...
IF I CAN CLIMB A TREE, I CAN CLIMB MT EVEREST. IF I CAN DRIVE A CAR, I CAN PILOT A SPACE SHUTTLE. IF I CAN PEE, I CAN BE THE PRESIDENT. IF I CAN POO, I CAN RULE THE WORLD!
