Does anyone think the boss battle themes should be switched? I like them both but the first theme is way cooler and should be saved for the later bosses.

I don't own a DS. It'd be a waste for me to shell out enough money for both the game and ds when I already own the snes version that has only a few differences. If I wanted it portable I'd put it on my psp. Since Nintendo didn't just put it on the VC, it looks to me like they're trying to squeeze a bit more out from their cash cow.

But, if they add a harder difficulty than I might buy it for my friend and borrow his ds for a while.

On another note, if you haven't beaten it (much less played it) than a part of your childhood is probably missing.

well there's a few more games that are great for the DS, so i would recommend buying one. i know i'm doing the same thing with the psp (i didn't care for one until crisis core came out, then i started looking for other games that interested me)

                  A definite must buy.

This'll give me more of a reason to pull even more all nighters.

Final Fantasy IV, IMO, was the best Final Fantasy created. So I'm going to have to step in here for a minute.

Wrong. If you've read the August 2008 issue of EGM (Not sure about any other game reviewing magazines that might have some info), then you would know what's going to be in it. Here, I'll type out a quote from one of the reviews.

There's another part where the guy talks about difficulty. Let me quote it out, too.

With that in mind, the difficulty's ratcheted up to levels bordering insanity, and tried-and-true tactics you've always used against bosses rarely work as expected. I actually found random encounters to be the most daunting aspect of the game---expect to die a lot once you enter a new dungeon. It's a nice challenge for old-timers, although sometimes the difficulty comes as a side effect of the sluggishness caused by the move to 3D.
Towards the end he explains what they took out for in exchange for what they added.

They're nice, but I prefer the GBA approach of bringing back lost characters and allowing full party customization. Plus, getting the most from the Augment system requires stupid, counterintuitive decisions. In other words, they're a sales pitch for the strategy guide, which just reinforces the cynical nature of this release. It's improved---perhaps even definitive---but comes too soon after the last version. Only the game's most die-hard fans won't resent this double dip.
Honestly, I wouldn't care if the game was just a straight port, because I'm a die-hard fan.

So I heard this thread was talking about Chrono Trigger.

                      Guess I was mistaken.

you are indeed right, i made a huge mistake there, the right words should have been, "the FFIVDS and FFIII DS are ports from the japanese versions (not the easy type versions used in IV advance) and the PS1 remakes were almost exactly the same as the original japanese with some easy type content, updated graphics"

what i worded was wrong because i didn't specify separate the point that the ps1 was a port of the japanese and is almost exactly and that FFIII-IV DS are ports from the japanese but not entirely the same.
