yup for me i see lasers not neon lights... photoshop or even gimp (free version of photoshop) would really make it easy to get that neon look!

EDIT: ok here is what i was able to do in this paint.net program this entire process from downloading to installing to learning to doing took me about an hour. now trust me when i say i suck at anything that has to do with graphics. but even a monkey can make art with the right tools.

here is what i did quickly just to show you an idea... i bascially used your pre-existing lines and gave them a glow and rounded some of the edges. to me it doesn't look perfect but it doesn't look like a laser beam either

how do i make the neon effect using Paint.net?

its actually quite easy...

first create a new blank layer by opening the layer tab a pushing add new layer.

then once on that layer take the brush change the width (i used 5, but 4 works ok as well, 7 is to much) use the same color as your existing lines, zoom in and paint directly over your existing lines trying to keep it centered as much as possible

once this is done you can round off some of the edges with a smaller sized brush, but it will be mostly rounded already.

then once again make sure the layer you wrote on is highlighted, go to the layer tab and hit layer properties, change the mode to glow, and what you see in my screenshot is 227, but u can change that around to what you like. (i like 133 aswell)

so its kind of a long winded explanation for something that in reality only takes a minutes. if u need more detailed instructions or screenshot inscrutions let me know!

From the screenshots it looks like there's a magic wand tool in Paint .NET. There's probably a feathering option, too.

What I did in Photoshop was select the line with the magic wand tool and then went to Select -> Feather and feathered the selection by like 10 pixels. I then used the paint bucket to full the feathered selection with the same color as the line. This got me the glowing effect.

To do what the guy above posted, if you selected the lines with the magic wand and then expanded the selection by a few pixels and filled it with a color you'd get the "glow" outline for the thin lines. Looks like the guy above me offset the glow a bit, which is nice. I think a combination of what he did and what I did would look best, but I'm not sure what all Paint.NET can do compared to Photoshop.

The image Is NOT the best image to start making opinions on because It is really unclear and plus the theme and my stepmania and ALL files on my computer wrer wiped by a super magnet.
