    Re: golden sun(plot, charactors, rumors)

I agree, Golden Sun did die out on me eventually. The thing that pissed me off the most was the fact that I had to arrange the Dijinn to get to certain places/do certain things, and it took me an ice age to get it right.

@Pumble: About the only things that I don't like about Pokemon are:
-Trainers use cheap tricks way too often, such as confusion, infatuation or putting my Pokemon to sleep.
-Garchomp, Bronzor and Bronzong. Their double-types make them invulnerable to nearly everything.
-They stopped allowing you to visit other regions.

In terms of handhelds RPGs, I agree. Golden Sun is one of the best. If only because there are like 10 handheld RPGs and most of those are Pokemon.

Here's my problem with Golden Sun. You played 100+ hours over two games to do 4 things: light four lighthouses. WAY too much travel time between them. WAY too many annoying side-things to do. WAY boring. Also, it's WAY too easy, and then the final boss is like LOL HAX I ATTACK 19302892038 TIMES PER TURN OH HERE'S MY SKILL THAT PRETTY MUCH KILLS YOU. OH, I DID IT AGAIN. OH, WHAT THE HECK! HERE IT IS AGAIN!

Now, Tales of Symphonia. It looks really generic. There are four temples you need to visit, and each one has a seal you need to unlock. That's only like the first quarter of the game though. The game TAKES OFF from there and becomes FANTASTIC.

Not to mention the entire game is free from the generic low-tech RPG standard that Final Fantasy needs to get rid of -- turn-based fighting and random encounters do not exist in Tales of Symphonia

Yeah, Golden Sun is a great handheld RPG. I prefer the Tales of series though, like others evidently.

(FFXII is semi turn based, so they're getting there!)

Everything in it was done really well, and I enjoyed both GS games a lot. Definitely not the best RPG of all time though, I've played a load better than it.

Technically, FF3 was originally for the PlayStation, but it never made it over here from Japan until I think FF:Anthologies.

GS was fun, but it got old real fast. Meteos or whatever the final sword in GS:2 proc'd too much and Felix was massively OP'd because he was the only one(other than Isaac) that could use it. And then you could always spam that massive Ragnarok spell over and over doing a considerate amount of damage.

And Squeek, the boss attacking the X amount of times...What level were you? Because he only managed to attack me 2 times, and the hits didn't even really dent my HP. My characters were all 63-65.

The final boss of the second game gets three attacks per turn.

His skill does about 80% damage to everyone at level ~65.

Squeek, what game are you even talking about? If that was the second GS, he gets 4 attacks each round, but then one less for every head it loses. It just uses much stronger attacks as it gets weaker. He's actually quite easy, and I'd have no idea how anyone that made it to him could ever lose. I screwed around leveling way too long and ended up in the 40s, and still beat him with virtually no effort or items used. Dullahan was 100000000x harder, and hard enough that I don't think you should be saying the game is so easy. Plus there was a hard mode, btw. Plus any game that has taken you 300+ hours and you're not even close to 100%ing is way too long and boring, and therefore not that great.

                                Re: golden sun(plot, charactors, rumors)

First of all, it was always three attacks per turn for me.

Second, every time I fought him, he'd Cruel Ruins twice in his turn, then set all my Djinn to Recover on the third.

Third, Dullahan was a joke. I didn't look up an FAQ and killed him on my first try. Maybe my game was broken.

Fourth, don't knock it 'till you've tried it. People spend thousands of hours on games and still love them. You don't have to spend 300 hours on Abyss to fully 100% it, either. Just like you don't have to spend thousands of hours on Disgaea. I just enjoy the experience more than others. The max level in Abyss is 200. There are items you can equip to your characters to boost their stats by a certain number each level up, but only one per character. The best one adds 4 to all stats, and the second best adds 3 to only 5 stats. It's plain to see that to 100% the game, you have to level one character at a time with the best one. That means leaving everyone else in the party dead, since boss battles will almost always level up everyone in the party at least once. So in essence, you have to do the entire game 6 times (as there are six characters to level to 200). Then the next fun part. The strongest weapons in the game work based on kills that character has. You have to kill 9,999 monsters to max its stats out. Per character. Then the next REALLY fun part. You have to use items created through trade to boost their stats a little more. Takes maybe 10 minutes to get 5 of them, and each character needs... about 500 per stat (and there are 6 stats!).

That will take about a thousand hours. It could be worse: it could be Disgaea. Get to level two or three THOUSAND, then transmigrate back to level one. Do this until your levels add up to 160,000 or so and you have the max stats on your character. Then you need to find someone in the game with the best sword and try to steal it from him. Then you need to clear 100 floors of enemies inside that item to max out its stats. On the 100th floor, you have to hope the final enemy has the next sword as a Rarity level 1 item. He might not. If he does, you try to steal it and descend 100 floors into that item as well.

Repeat for every weapon you want. Sword, spear, axe, gun, bow, staff, fist. Then, do the same for armor, since you want the best armor too. Three pieces of armor per character means doing this entire process a minimum of 21 times more, so 28 total if you have a character using each different weapon class.

                                I plan on doing it.
