The new skateboarding game being made by EA looks really good. I'm looking forward to it and if it's as good as it looks like it will be I'm going to get it.
There is a 50% chance your pillow will eat you while you are sleeping.
Well since it's EA expect it to be more realistic then the THPS series. The THPS series was more of having fun doing ridiculous tricks that everyone hoped of doing and showing off to others. EA's style always was realistic gameplay. Let's hope they stay that way for this game.
THPS is a skating GAME, not a skating sim. I would hate a skating sim. Same way I hate Madden but loooooooove NFL Blitz. =D
PS: EA sucks giant balls.
PPS: That trailer showed basically nothing, aside from the classic EA "OMG GUYS NOBODY CARES ABOUT GAMEPLAY THEY'RE IN IT FOR THE GRAPHICS AND FAMOUS PEOPLE ^__^" way of doing things.
So I've gone completely slack-ass and haven't done any work on creating games. =(
In less-depressing news, I got a job for an online business (which sells non-electronic games, of all things!) which has taught me a lot about marketing online and all that jazz.
i have tony hawk project 8 for the xbox 360 so i thought i might contribute.
the graphics are really awesome compared to the other tony hawks but the faces can be a bit unrealistic. the gameplay is nice and flips arent so frustrating as they were before but they made getting off your board completely useless. you will NEVER use it because there is absolutely no point unlike wasteland. sure it may not be realistic to run up a wall in the middle of a combo but it was a lot more fun. another problem is that many of the objectives are stupid as hell. the worst 2 are when some guy in a beaver suit tells you to do specific flatland tricks, which most people don't do and its hard as hell because you have a tiny square of about 4 feet to do your tricks in. the other is bam margera's challenge which is basically broken. theres no easy way to do it, you just do it over and over for about an hour and eventually get lucky. also, the levels dont seem to flow nearly as well as they did in previous games. because of this i would NOT recommend getting an xbox 360 just for it but it is definitely worth 50-60 dollars if you already have an xbox 360/are getting it for other games as well.
Best Scores: Love-Colored Master Spark AAA, Mute City Remix AAA, Over the Rave AAA, TGWP3 3 good.
Good contribution vvav, but I would like to point out some things.
First, I agree on how the faces are a bit unrealistic but what I really hated was that the player creation was very limited compare to the other games. You have to choose your class to make your character, which none is suitable to create a perfectly normal skater, not some punk.
Second, getting off your board AKA caveman is not completely useless. I use it a lot in my combos if I'm gonna bail from a grind, manual, or from a halfpipe.
Third, the objectives aren't stupid (in my opinion). Just too repetetive. Like when you have to do tricks while following the camera and keep doing the same tricks you did in the last footage objective. Also, flatland tricks are very useful when ending a combo. If your stuck in the middle of nowhere manualing and your caveman timing has run out then the only tricks you can do is flatland tricks, which are a good boost to your combo and score.
And finally, the levels flow smoothly as one huge level, but only seems like a small level not fit for freedom for your skater when playing MP or online, playing only a portion of the massive city.
But like vvav said, it ain't worth buying a 360 or PS3 for this game, especially if you don't have online compatibilities.

That's your cup of tea then isn't it. I would much prefer to play a more down to earth Skateboarding game rather than an extremely over the top Skateboarding game. It wouldn't take fun out of the game or anything. Plus saying it's a skating GAME is pretty silly. Think of other sports GAMES and most driving GAMES and other GAMES. Most of which are not over the top but are still GAMES.

You're not a skater though. THPS appeals to people who have never skated before, but turns off a lot of skaters because of the unrealism to it. This game looks to maintain real-ness much more effectively.
PS: EA sucks giant balls.
I honestly have no opinion on the matter. I have no real solid experience with EA products outside of the Sims.

Famous people? The most famous skaters of all are already tied to the THPS line. There will be few, if any skaters that will be known of in the mainstream appearing in that game.
ps hi noah

Spacewalk. You can spacewalk to get moving again then get into a grind and continue your combo for as long as your grind/manual balance will allow.
Anyway, I'm half glad that they made walking nearly useless for combos, as it is retarded to get points for walking around off of your board, but at the same time, it's annoying to not be able to use it in the same way I have in the previous games in order to get huge as hell combos.
@seth: They're two different kind of games. Compare Mario Kart to Gran Tourismo. Both good games, but good for completely different reasons.

Just wanted to let you know that, in case you're still stuck on this, there's a way to manual/flatland in place. Hold X or A or whatever to crouch, and then hold down on the d-pad/analog stick to stop yourself while still crouching. Release X/A before letting go of down, and go into your manual. This is, of course, assuming that P8 doesn't force you to move forward in a manual or something, because this is how it worked in previous games.
X-Play said P8 for PS3 was buggy and stuff, but what they say doesn't mean much to me. Aside from that, this thread is the most I've heard about the game. If I get to play it anytime soon, I'll post in here again.
