Okay, there seems to be mass confusion involving Green version, so I am going to now allow the Pokemon nerd harbored inside me to show itself. If I remember correctly, this was the deal with Red/Blue/Green.

Japan. Pokemon is released in both Red and Green versions. Later, a new and improved version is released (Blue). Blue is just like Red and Green, only the graphics and some dungeon layouts or something have been improved.

America. It is decided that there are big bucks to be made in bringing Pokemon here. The superior aspects from Blue (graphics and dungeon stuff) are implemented into the Red and Green versions. Then, the upgraded Red and Green versions are sold here, under the names Red and Blue.

Anyway.. I'd say Gold/Silver for sure. I had red, and got all 151 (trading with friends and etc.) but then it got stolen. I got blue and pretty much beat the hell out of that, too. Got yellow and played that long enough to use gameshark to get surfing pikachu and now I just play that mini game here and there. Gold is sweet. I just restarted it last week and it's probably a good part of the reason I'm not level 70 in Maple Story right now. So engaging =D

I still have my old gameboy colour just for pokemon gold. I have no other games but after playing (and being disappointed with) Ruby I took it back out, stole some of my girlfriends batteries and played it and loved it again. So I'm going to go and buy an adaptor lead for it so I can just plug straight into the mains, and get back into it. I deleted my game and everything (I had about 15 pokemon at 99).

Silver and Gold were by far the best. Simply because of everything that people have already said. More places to go, More stuff to do, color!, and more pokemon.

Yellow was ok. The fact that you have Pikachu follow around was cute, but it gets annoying, since you have a HUGE problem fighting Brock at the beginning of the game. Graphics were ok...but if you find the minigame, the rating goes from 4 to 6 easily. Comon, it was kinda cool for the first half hour right?

Silver and Gold...very odd... I liked the colors, and some names were ok, but personally, I only liked it for a while.

Crystal was a shame. I hated it, hated it, hated it! The animations were terrible and annoying!

Ruby and Saphire were ok. Again, I loved the colors and graphics. The minor setback was with some of the names. I mean, some were ok, but others were "WTF is that?!"

Emerald was like Ruby and Saphire compined with Crystal, but with better animations and some added secrets...I think. If it was aimed as a Crystal Remake, it was a much better one.

LeafGreen and FireRed I heard was BAD!!! A poor excuse of "GIMME UR LUNCH MONY!!!!" in a box. The wireless I heard caused many people's games to go basserk on them and was a whole mess. If they make a "yellow" like version for it, then RUN!!!

There is another Pokemon game coming out for DS, with a new battling system. I found it on YouTube, but can't remember what I searched for... It looked kinda cool, but something tells me this is gonna flop!

Missingo is also in Silver/Gold. Blue/Red does have the best names, but Gold has the most pokemon catchable without trading (200+). It has more than any other games.

I still want to find someone with pokemon red/blue who will trade with me in gold so I can get the pokemon I've never got before (such as Steelix, Alakazam, Slowking, Scizor etc).

Someone pm me who lives in Northern Ireland, do it, do it.

I'm sad 'cuz I'm the only person who voted for for yellow.
Which was almost exactaly the same as red and blue, other
than lack of choosing popkemon. But, if you're complaining
that Brock was hard, get a butterfree and a mankey, bam! Done!

I'd go with FR/LG, and Gold and Silver. Ruby, Sapphire, Emerald are all retarded and made Pokemon se foreign to me.

I dont like R/B because it was difficult for me as a kid.
I HATED yellow because I could NEVER beat brock with Pikachu and the other pokemon around there took FOREVER to train.
I LOVED S/G because it was fun for me and I always could do something.
Hated R/S because of lack of stuff to do, and didn't have pokemon I liked.
Never played LG/FR

I liked Gold and Silver a lot more. Gold specifically. There was just much more to do, and it wasn't too altered that it didn't feel like Pokemon anymore.

Out of Red/Blue, I think I like Blue more. It was just fun, and I like Squirtle :/

Played a lot more gold recently, (my gameboy colour adaptor finally arrived from amazon), forgot just how awesome it was.

Togepi + Metronome is just pure and simple fun.

Level 13 with him, taken into a trainer battle. Went like this:

Vs. lvl 10 diglitt - Metronome does CUT, OHKO
Vs. lvl 13 zubat - Metronome does Aurora Beam, OHKO
Vs. lvl 14 diglitt - Metronome does Dragon Rage, OHKO.

It's not always that lucky but damn it's fun.
