Just to correct Chromer and his "correction" of putting the Revolution over the X-box for next generation, you should all read this. Note that this is mostly about last year (shortly before, and shortly after the PSP was released in Japan..), but I still think that many of you will be very surprised.

But those scores are total sales. That means that nintendo has so many different systems out that they can flood the market, and inflate the numbers. That is company, not system. Look more closely at each graph, and see how much of it is game cube, compared to the rest. It that race, Microsoft is going to lose, because they have the X-box, but Sony has a few, and Nintendo has a lot. Look at per-system.Comment

right. But read what the thoughts the article was intended to disuade...mainly the ones where people say "if Revolution doesn't do GREAT then the big N will go the course of sega. Which just isn't true, it's still the most profitable video game company out there, and is in no threat of going under (which you wouldn't know by reading most game sites.) If you're just looking at the current home consoles, then Nintendo is in third. But then more variables come into it. Nintendo is regarded as one of the premier software companies in the world, almost always delivering high quality, fun games. These first party games are also why people buy a Nintendo console. They are not 3 times the size of sony and microsoft, yet they have to produce (basically) 3 times as many first party games. This is both because they have 3 systems out, and because of the lack of quality/quantity of 3rd party games. But anyways, those are just my thoughts on why that could be. That if Nintendo could solely focus on the Gamecube, that it would sell much better...anyways...just typed out thoughts.I'll trade you this delicious doorstop for your crummy old danish.

It shows how Nintendo as a Company does much better. IT DOES NOT SAY THAT 'REVOLUTION' WILL BE ON TOP. Basically, they know that they wont be the best, and they don't NEED to be the best, because they have so many other video game systems to keep it good.
They only have to be good enough that it can kinda stay up with PS3 and the 360. Then all the people wont consider it an inferior product, and they will still get the sales from the people who want both because of the Nintendo exclusives.Comment

Ummm...Did you read it? The author got all of the statistics from Media Create (The Japanese version of NPD for video games), and NPD (any stats you read about video games/movies most likely comes from these reports). So that takes care of the "NON CITED" part, as for the "NON PROVEN", I guess all I can say is that the sources are as credible as they come for this topic. Based on the two previous statements it's safe to say that these are not illegitimate. Oh, and it is a Nintendo Fansite. So someone heard what the media and others were saying about Nintendo going under/losing money/etc...and decided to research it on his own. What he found is that lately, Nintendo is doing quite well. Where did you want this to be posted, on an X-box or Sony site? Obviously no. On IGN or gamespot, or any other mainstream media site? He basically accuses them all of being biased, and proves it to some extent (as Cen has pointed out, Gamecube is indeed 3rd in sales), so I doubt that they would post it.
