Best Game Ever (Old School Style)

For the youngyuns that dont remember, Duck Hunt was the game that came with Super Mario Bros. and you used a bright orange "lightgun" to shoot ducks. But shooting ducks isn't politically correct anymore. O_o

Up Up Down Down Left Right Left Right B A START

OMG KONAMI CODE'D! That was the code for every Konami game for the longest time. In Gradius and Nemesis it gave you full options and shield and missiles. Then the changed it so in Gradius 3 if you put in that code you die instantly But yeah, Gradius definitly ranks up there with the best of them.

Also, Afrobean is right. USA's SMB2 sucked balls, especially when compared with the impossibly hard Japanese SMB2.

Also, I think it's safe to say that best game ever belongs to one of the classics, namely:
Contra, SMB, Duck Hunt, Legend of Zelda, Gradius, Bubble Bobble, Megaman, Gauntlet, Metroid, TMNT2 (number 1 sucked), Tetris, Crystalis (<3 that game), Doom, Street Fight, Mortal Kombat, Castlevania, any Bomberman game, and Star Fox, just to name a few.

And you guys, we should all quit arguing, because we all know Halo is the best old school game ever.

But seriously, I think my two main favorites are Gradius (number 3, especially) and Gauntlet. Both are so fucking hard it ain't funny. I remember playing Nemesis (the Gameboy version of Gradius) on my GB all the time, and I never could beat it on hard (I also borrowed it to a cousin who never returned it ). Me and my best friend where I grew up love playing Gauntlet together. I hadn't seen her in years and I visited her this summer, and we ended up playing Gauntlet. We're such nerds :P

Oh, and my favorite that I bet none of you have played is Super Famicon Wars. It's a Super Famicon (that's what the Japanese called the SNES) strategy/war game. It's fun and there's a GBA version (Advance Wars, I think) that is probably very similar. The only thing about SFW is that it's all in Japanese. Seeing as I know no Japanese, I have no idea what the lil messages say. I still play it, though, and I'm awesome at it :P

Of course, with sound quality like we had back in the day, it was impossible to tell. Oh well. There's a flash game where instead of shooting the ducks you aim for the dog. Go find it!

I'm definitely gonna have to go with good old Chrono Trigger. I've just never been so sucked into the world of any other game. That game was just way ahead of its time with multiple endings, dual/triple techs, etc, etc. It's so sad SquareEnix is neglecting it though I want my next gen sequel (or prequel, or anything!!!!)

Yes, lost levels. It is much better than the NES version, and I have been enlighted by the almighty Omeganitros of this.


Maybe BattleToads will own whatever is left after SMB2 is finished.
