Well, I hope this lackluster EoD isn't any indication for the rest of the game. It'll be really boring and probably easy for heros/wolves.

I think that we'll still find enough connections based on who is pushing other wagons if Gaston dies here and flips Green

I don't see how. At the moment, him dying is almost like killing somebody that hasn't said anything yet. Not sure exactly how you'd get connections from his flip.
