Re: TWG XCVIII: A bunch of people in a room playing mafia
A couple things on my mind. I feel like these are obvious, but better to share I suppose.
Dance being a full vigi + IC, means we are looking at 2 wolves and a roleblocker wolf. one of those normal wolves has the potential to be a MW. That doesn't necessarily matter if we don't have a cop somewhere.
so 3 wolves.
Day 1 was a bad day. Not so much because we killed James though. There was little pressure on the majority of players, which led to a lot of holes we need to fill. I know I was quiet, but Pressure was really only applied to Yoman, TPS and James.
We need to spread that out more. I went back through day 1, and can't seem to find anything really useful for wolf nabbing.
AAA's = 800

You said there are a thousand different possible reasons. Name me three.
I can name you eleven.
1. Danceguy was killed by random choice
2. Danceguy was killed to get rid of some activity in the thread, weakening the people's discussion
3. Danceguy was killed because he told somebody he is the Vigi
4. Danceguy was killed because his posts hinted a blue status
5. Danceguy was killed because the wolves couldn't make him do whatever the wolves wanted
6. Danceguy was killed just because he is a good player and the wolves don't want a good player around.
7. Danceguy was killed because it had the potential to be a random kill and, with the correct cardflipping, it could have told nothing.
8. Danceguy was killed because the wolves thought that Danceguy was inadvertently getting closer to the truth
9. Danceguy was killed because one/two/all the wolves are close to Danceguy (in terms of Danceguy knowing their playstyle, etc) and sooner or later Danceguy could have pushed for a lynch from that one/two/all the wolves.
10. Danceguy was killed because he was suspected of being a Serial Killer, if any, in this game (which looks like there isn't)
11. Danceguy was killed to frame a player in the game.
Those are all the reasons I can think right now. And I'm sure there are many more, and maybe I didn't even write the right one in this list, who knows.

Several. He isn't new to the TWG stuff.
yeah, 11 is the only really likely choice for day one. so, I think about all of those things you listed right, I really think about them, but because I think about them I know that they're probably not the case?
What the hell does five even mean. Could you provide an example of that even being a possibility? Did danceguy's posts really sound like he was blue? are you sure that's not confirmation bias talking? Danceguy might've been killed to weaken discussion in the thread but ultimately discussion always dwindles - V and I have been the most vocal, we're still alive because we have a higher chance of being lynched than Danceguy so your point is pretty much void. Why would danceguy mention he is the vigi to someone this early in the game knowing full well that he probably doesn't have someone he wants to kill yet? Inadvertently getting closer to the truth? Can you prove that or are you just good at speculating? Nine is just hogwash, doesn't really mean anything. I know half of the players here just as well if not more than the rest of the vets and I can certainly push for a lynch on any of them. When something can be applied to anyone in the game it doesn't really matter because you can't actually draw conlusions from it. Danceguy is an ok player - people don't die night one because they're good players.
People only die night one for two reasons: push attention/discussion away from/towards a specific player, confuse through random kill.
So yeah, good, you came up with two good reasons. I asked for three.
Re: TWG XCVIII: A bunch of people in a room playing mafia
I do think it's surprising he'd ask what a MW is since most of his games have been played under TWG terms - I still find mafia terms to be confusing, honestly.

Hmmmmm...okay, hypothetical scenario.
Basically, the wolves got a plan to have the edge over the humans, let's say, make the players get Fiction lynched. They have a handful of posts, an argument, and all of that, but they still need to convince people to vote for Fiction, and despite all efforts, it is possible that all of them wouldn't agree.
However, Danceguy really trusted Fiction, and he was sure of Fiction's human status. There were very few chances of Danceguy agreeing on a Fiction lynch, and surely Danceguy would have defended Fiction to the end, despite what people may think of him.
So, in order to avoid a problem, and since Danceguy wouldn't do what the wolves wanted the humans to do, he was killed.
That is basically what I mean with the thing.
Hmmmm...now that I think it, the opposite could be as well. Danceguy could have refused to change a vote from a player, and was killed for that. That is some sort of opposite of the hypothetical scenario I just mentioned.

"Blue sounding posts" is more or less subjective.
What to you or me or some other player may sound like just another post, to a wolf it may seem like a blue hinting his power. I suppose that the wolves would read the thread and pay special attention, trying to find a blue, and sometimes see stuff that isn't really there, leading to killing a non-special. Sometimes it happens, sometimes it doesn't.

I suppose you got me there, yeah. Danceguy's death did kill some of the activity, in terms of...well, long posts that encompasses evidence. Yeah, you got me.

I'll admit this was a mistake from me. I had rally forgotten that outside communication is forbidden. Yeah, that one is impossible.

Eh, it depends mostly from the players. Sometimes good players die on early nights for the sake of being good players. Other times average players die for the sake of being average players. It all depends of who is in the wolf team. One, as a mere human, can't get a clear insight of the wolves' mindset, nor their opinion on a specific player.

I'll have to agree that the random kills one happens very often. But pushing discussion towards a player through a kill...yeah, it doesn't happen very often, at least in an effective way. It is possible a player, or two, notices it, but there is also the chance the rest of the players will ignore it and not take the death in accounts, and the death is taken as a random kill or a meaningless death for who knows what reasons..
In my own opinion, your mileage may vary, at least seven or eight reasons I posted still stand. Maybe to you only one or two stand.

Now, about the YMIA thing:
Eh, I doubt yoman is the kinda of player to try to play dumb, specially when at least half of the players know that he has experience and has played a lot of games. I would be very surprised if that were what happened.
