With blind's game, I am confused how it is 17 players but only 11 roles are explained. Are the others just vanilla?

And with Cold Kitten's I am confused about what it means that it is "mystery/bastard" (it sounds spooky).

mystery games are games where parts of the game are hidden, such as mechanics and roles. Part of the game is figuring out what exactly is going on inside the game. bastard games are ones with non standard roles and mechanics, that can be unbalanced or just strange and quirky. Personally i find them to be more fun than your standard c9+ setup, and bastard and mystery games create more unique and memorable experiences.

storn pretty much explained it correctly. there's information that those playing won't know and it's definitely potentially a little bit crazy. each card that can get handed out to players does something different and until cards are received no one will know exactly what any of them do. also the exact role setup will not be explained so that's unknown as well.
