double stepping on pad refers to patterns that force you to step on two different consecutive notes with the same foot or force you to spin in a place where it doesn't fit.

patterns like that can break the flow of a file really easily, but proper integration of half-turns and even full spins can even improve the flow

When a player has to double step, it’s generally something that will be noticed. Molding crossovers to part of a song or placing flavor mines to a tic in the music might not be consciously noticed by the player, but stepping twice in a row with one foot will be. It disrupts the flow of the song. Therefore, if you absolutely need to place a double step in a song, make sure it goes to something very noticeable in the music. If there’s a loud cymbal crash or something and you don’t want to accent it with a jump or mines for whatever reason, you can use a double step. Use these very rarely, though. Using them too often may make the player think you don’t know how to make well-flowing streams, even if you have a reason for each double-step pattern you use. - Thanks Insane Steve

Song choice is questionable, it's a little repetitive for the entire song. Pretty much the same steps for the entire song; in technicality, it's quite good, but I'm not sure if I'd enjoy playing this on pad. Out of the sheer repetitiveness of both the song and the chart, I will reject, songs need to be more interesting and high energy in general for a dancing simulation game.

Maybe for home players with metal pads, but I believe this pack is catering more to the ITGr21 players.

You did a lot of the song perfectly. I love that slowdown, and that speedup following it, synced perfectly (the slowdown is a little late, but the speed up is fine). I'm one for stamina songs, and I think this file was done well enough. It's funny how generic techno songs will translate into generic stamina charts, but either way, other than the two long runs, excellent file. I'll accept, but I'm not sure about the other judges.

Difficult chart after the halfpoint. I believe this was stepped PERFECTLY, until the end. The 32nd trills and 24th notes are a little fast; they're only at the end, for a short moment, but they left me a little iffy considering the speed of the song. I mean, I understand they go with the music, but they might be a bit difficult. I don't think they're impossible, and I don't want to reject an otherwise excellent chart for 1 measure. I don't believe it needs fixing, so I'll give it an accept.

Hmm.. 190 stream is pretty difficult. The rest of the file isn't consistent with these streams either. It's like, a 7 for a majority of the file, then 190 streams for literally 10 seconds come out of nowhere, making it a hard 13. I can't say I like this file very much, this seems more suited to keyboard. I would personally reject this, but let's see what other judges have to say about it.

Awkward steps, random crossovers that need to be doublestepped. Keep a consistent pattern with the speedups, changing trills randomly that fast is not a good idea. Most people on pad will play this on xmod, and as such, set the speed to 3x~5x, meaning it'll zoom by at 600~1000bpm. The rolls were fine, since no actual reading is required, but the alternating trills will indefinitely mess up the player. Requires moderate fixing; gimmicks are good, patterns in them are not, and footing is unusual in a lot of parts. Rejected until further revisions.

This might make me seem like a lenient judge, because I am, but I've played a LOT of files, and I've been exposed to a lot of things. Doublesteps don't phase me as much unless they're devastating (e.g. messing up a followup stream completely, or an entire stream of them), gimmicks are kind of easy to predict in pad charts. Given that, I'm not as strict about things being perfectly to my liking (e.g. no spins, no doublesteps).

Holy crap, this file is amazing. I disagree with debit - the jumps in the beginning are fine IMO, and the patterns from 16-33 are pseudo-pitch relevancy for pad, I'm taking it. As Zero and debit pointed out though, you crossed over at the the start of measure 49, without reverting. Just put some mines or something there.

The quad the end is okay, but there's a quadmine right an 1/8 note after it, that's a little tricky. Not saying it's instafail file, but you might want to shift them down a bit.

I'll gladly give this an accept, but it'd be nice if you made a v1.1 and added those two fixes. Your discretion.

Second Heaven (Kommisar)

I disagree with debit here, as well. The jumpstreams are fine, chain jumps get VERY repetitive, boring, and limit the steps you can follow up with. While that prevents footing confusion, it's not always the best choice. I think it worked well here. 1/8 stream is a little stale with your pattern choice, but the minifreezes that go with the melody helped even that out. Personally, I prefer this over Zero's, and I think it has an excellent flow for most of the chart. The jumps in the beginning are fine, IMO, no need to chain jump it. I like this chart a fair bit, accepted. Also, I like the "EH O" part, hahaha

Rejected not because it's a bad file, but because Kommi's has better flow and consistency in it. That, and we don't need two of the same file. Unless of course you two combine it into one chart:

I wouldn't mind that; yours being the heavy, Kommi's being the oni. That'd be pretty neat.

The Dirty of Loudness
The 16ths into jumps I don't mind, nor the doublesteps debit pointed out; they're simple patterns, a few doublesteps won't ruin the consistency of the file completely. I cheated them without even realizing it, so I think it worked just fine.

Three things though, marking the gimmicks - a 1/64 minifreeze on the first arrow of each would suffice. Unless it's repeating (e.g. the LR trills) you don't NEED to, but the randomly occuring ones (e.g. the RRRR stop jack) would do much better.

Second thing, same thing as debit - I hit the tri, mines went off on both Xmod and Cmod. Gotta fix that.

Third, the 1/8 jumpjack stream from measure 38-45; is that necessary? It's not impossible, but I think it's a bit excessive. Normal 1/8 stream would work equally as well IMO, maybe making them into 1/8 holds.

Reject as of now, I think these fixes are critical. It's a good file, but needs some more tuning.

Jumps in the beginning, wtf? Doesn't need to be loaded with them. Trill in after the stop, measure 12 - you're assuming they start trilling with their right foot. I personally start UD trills with my left on down; therefore, the entire stream is messed up for me for about a measure or so, which could cause me to fail. You need to find a way to FORCE the footing into the position you desire. You can start with right on D or left on D, since you're entering that stream after a quadmine.

Hands in measures 29 through 33; too many. You have to cheat all those, and I don't like cheating hands that fast. This isn't PIU, where the panels are closer together with smaller brackets for easy cheating.

This is absolutely BRUTAL on pad. Reject, the entire song is just trilling at like 180 for two minutes with jumps loaded into it. I don't think I'm going to accept any chart of this song at all, no matter how much fixing up it needs. Pure stamina chart, no fun at all.

And now that I've reviewed this, didn't you send the same chart to Flipside?

But seriously, I like the chart. The hands are awkward, especially the crab-hands, you have to cheat those to get up in time. Change the hands to jumps. The stop gimmicks are good, the spins are slow enough to actually do properly, and fit the music well. The ending is repetitive, it needs some varying.

Needs some fixing up, I very much like what you did in the chart, and the song is something else. For now, reject until you revise it a bit.

Maybe Halogen would enjoy this on pad, but I know I wouldn't, nor would a lot of people. I don't enjoy playing songs on 1x, then ending up having to do what are basically 32nd trills at 180 repeatedly. No fixes will change my opinion, I will not accept this.

I see what you did in the start with the double step repetitions, but it felt forced and doesn't flow well. Jump at the end of the stream in 53 is pretty damn fast, considering it's an UR jump after a DL step. You also didn't step anything other than the beeping; didn't follow the BG beat or anything else for the most part. File doesn't flow well, IMO. Rejected.

Doublesteps in almost every measure of the chart. Hands don't go to anything, they're completely random. Not layered at all. Jumps at the end of measure 4 are offsync, why is one of them a 32nd? The song starts to go offsync at the end by a noticeable amount; enough to turn FA into PA and PA into GA. Rejected.

I REALLY don't like how you step any of your files, at all. Beginning is awkward with all the jumps and mines. What's up with all the mines in the file, anyway? None of them are for forced footing, they all seem just randomly thrown in just because you can. What are the triples going to in measure 41-48? Speedup to 600 was unnecessary, the song is offsync after the stops. For the entire song, you didn't step the lyrics once. Why follow the bass the entire time? The lyrics would have made much better steps, IMO. Rejected.

Zero won me over like 100% for the FIRST time ever. XD
