There is some really good christian techno that I've heard...can't remember the name of the guy but there weren't lyrics or anything. Just good big beat music. I'll edit the link when I figure it out...

The label its under and the stores its sold in. I hate the idea of a seperate genre for "Christian music." Genres should not be based around lyrical content and label. Some of the best Christian musicians are not under Christian labels and thus not considered Christian artists (see Sufjan Stevens...). Since Christian labels are a joke (usually a sub-label of a larger company that treats the artists worse) I applaud the "Christian artists" who aren't on a "Christian label." But Christian music does get a bad rep from what they play on the radio use to advertise Christian media on tv. There is a lot of good "Christian" music out there (Sufjan Stevens, David Crowder Band, Andy Hunter, Caedmon's Call, old Switchfoot from before they went mainstream). But only two of them are recognized as major "Christian" bands, and both get the exact wrong songs played on the radio. The "Christian music" scene works backwards, and so it usually doesn't make since. But thats not to discredit all Christian music. There is a lot of good stuff out there, its just not what they play on the radio (but that goes for a lot of different types of music).

Also, I'm thinking of starting a few songs... but you still have to tell me if you want pad steps or keyboard steps. I'm probably going to do John Woo by Newsboys, something from DCB's A Collision, and if you ask for keyboard specifically I'll do something by Sufjan Stevens.

There are some lyrics but it doesn't have to have lyrics for people to classify something as "Christian."

Way back in the day someone called PenguinMan used to make ONLY Christian files. A lot of it was worship remixes and stuff, and it was all quality work. His website is down now (it was www.penguintones.com), but I'm sure his files are still floating around somewhere. Try bemanistyle.com or something. Good luck finding them.

Oh, and bluguerilla, the Christian techno you're probably thinking of is Ultrabeat. Pretty good stuff. Also, JoyElectric, which actually has a song on FFR (From Mount Chorus), is Christian techno-ish, too.

If we had a separate genre labeled Christian I would never click on it. 99.8% of christian songs suck.

On another, note I've been trying to get my friend's band on here which is relevant to this because the band is a Christian band. A few of his songs fit into the genre on the .2% that doesn't suck.

Here are some suggestions.

Underoath -- Cries of the Past, Act of Depression, Changing of Times and possibly Define the Great Line. The older stuff is more suited for decent kb files, but for DtGL you'll need to work a little harder to make them solid.

As I Lay Dying -- Just poke around and listen. It wouldn't be too hard to find a good song. Elegy and Through Struggle would be straight.

Norma Jean -- Just about anything besides their slower songs. Their Reedemer album can help you out.

Relient K -- I really wouldn't suggest this unless you're confident enough to make a solid kb file because their rhythm is rather linear.

The Almost -- This band's genre is highly debatable from traditional rock, to general christian. I remain to believe it is christian because I can sense Aaron Gillespie's spirituality within the lyrics. Same thing goes with what I said about Relient K.

Hmm.. That's as much as I can think of for the moment. I'm working on most of these artists myself, but I'm not willing to release anything.
