I never tried orbular or metal noteskins. I always use Note.

Velocity has a great note skin for AAAing.

Orbular to see how the song looks the first time before attempting AAA.

A matter of preference.
I suck at MA-ing using Orbular but I can do a bit well in jacking but when I use note, it's much easier for me. You have to choose the noteskin you like really.

Orbular centralizes the notes and makes them all a lot more uniform which does help with MA a lot. When I switch to any arrow noteskin I lose a great deal of my MA and my scores plummet.

Yeah, it takes a bit getting used to like any non-arrow noteskin. Just try it for a few days and see what changes you get from your normal scores.

I use Orbular for spread and Note for index and semi-index. Orbular helped me adapt to spread very easily.
