The Longest file I've played is When the Water Breaks (ElectricWereworlf) It's in the simfile database. I have SEEN longer files though

EDIT: I remember playing a 40 min Final Fantasy file too, but it wasn't as good When the Water Breaks

I've thought about stepping a chart the plays half the song, has a 9-hour stop, and then plays the rest of the song. It'd be funny, as you'd have to wake up, and be ready at the keyboard for when the stop finishes :P

If you wanted to actually do that...
- Audacity will happily generate any number of seconds of silence in the middle of a song.
- You can just take any simfile, put silence in the middle of the mp3, and add a corresponding stop (in the Stepmania editor) at the same point.

You could probably do it in five minutes. I don't think it would be all that fun to play, though. How would you know when it starts up again? Maybe you could put in a timer by changing background pictures.

If the song's length is known, record the time it started at, and reference it when you wake up.
