Hammer ons and pull offs.
I've beaten both games on expert twice, I can 94% all songs. But enough about me.

1. Taping/rubberbanding the green fret button is horrible. I tried that when I move to hard, it slowed me down a bit. Makes it imposible to play harder songs.
2. Hammer-ons/pull-offs. Learn how to use them, they're a lot easier on Gh2 than Gh1.
3. Learn how and when to shift up and down. On some songs( Sweet Child O' Mine, might be one), it's easier to play if you shift up after every green note. Learning how to combine shifting with hammerons/pulloffs is key to fast solos.
4. Play songs in practice mode. It helps. Even try harder songs, or even expert, on very slow speeds. It helps with coordination, you can play the song better if you know when to use star power and how fast pattens work. Especially on freebird.

Those should help.

Can anyone who plays guitar verify this? I've played drums for YEARS, and I am ambidextrous with strong hands otherwise, but for some reason, when playing GH, my left hand just sucks. It tires out way too fast on Expert songs (like, my arm will start to numb and my wrist starts to die). Is it possible that I am holding the guitar incorrectly? I get a lot of wrist/hand cramps one way, but switching to the other hand just feels awkward for some reason and I don't perform as well even though I don't tire out as quickly. Maybe I'm just bad at guitars and pseudoguitars, lol?

Edit: Are you supposed to play with a straight wrist or slightly bent?

I've never had wrist problems with my left hand, only very occasionally my right (but then my arm and fingers are more tired so I ignore it), so my guess is you're doing it wrong.

I bend my wrist a little but not much, but I just do what feels natural, and it works for me. I had to pick up my guitar just to answer your question because I've never really thought about that.

I think maybe I am bending my wrist too much, trying too hard to strain speed/dexterity out of an awkward angle. Holding a guitar doesn't feel "natural" to me so I am guessing that is the problem? I have more pain playing GH than I do playing Moonlight Sonata (Third Movement) on the piano, rofl

Bending your wrist shouldn't give you too many problems as long as you're not really stiff.

I get wrist cramps if I play for more than an hour or so, but as long as your wrist is loose and you're moving your wrist around, it shouldn't be too serious.

well ps2 theres both GH games plus DDR supernova which is the 2nd newest DDR game,but for X Box 360 there only GH 2 but with some extra songs that ps2 dosnt have,plus an automatic wireless guitar, but theres DDR universe,which i heard sucks,which is the newest DDr out to date i think,well did hottest party come out but thats forthe WII and theres not GH for it.
