Max300 actually doesnt have that easy patters anyway most of the stuff is actually hitting the steps with a different foot evrytime Plus its more continous than anysong in the game except PSMO and that is a fact so WRONG U R.
And Cartoon heroes shouldnt be a 10 because as hard as it is It is still way easier than max300 and even PSurvivor. And It may be slightly harder that Sakura if u do them both on 1 but I dont consider Sakura a real 10 anyway.
Another thing a lot of people dont kno is Sakura after the slowdown speeds up to 320 not 300. Which is probly why it shoud maybe stay a weak 10.
AND by the way Chromer U deserve a big FAT SMACK in the head until u bleed for saying Max300 should be a hard 9. That is the point of all the 10s is too be fast. If u slowed down any other 10 it woud be just as easy. GOD ur retarted "smack"
Like seriously ur one fuckin retard.
If you're hitting each arrow with a different foot, that makes it a ton easier. Big fricking deal if it's 'more continuous', it's not that fast and it's not that hard. Here is Max300 broken down into sections.
Around the beginning, it has some 8th streams with easy-ass patterns. Then come the triplets, which aren't too hard, as long as you stay close to the ground. Then there are lots of streams, but they're filled with things like 46464 and such, making it pretty easy.
Then there's the slowdown, followed by lots of the same rhythm of five 8th notes. Once again, these are in easy patterns with your two feet going back and forth, like 46464, 82828, etc. Then there's a short stream of nine 8th notes, which shouldn't be too hard to get, as long as you've been using your stamina wisely and keep your feet low.
Then there are some short gallop-like patterns and jumps. Very easy, and a good place to regain your stamina. Then there's the big stream at the end, seventeen 8ths. As before, as long as you've been conserving your energy, an 8th stream at 300 BPM with no crossovers shouldn't be that hard, unless you have slow feet. Finally, there's the famous Max300 ending. Hard to FC/AAA, easy if you're just trying to pass.
So there you have it. In short, Max300 is not a hard 10. It is an easy 10 and it would be reasonable to make the conclusion that it should be a hard 9. Chromer is not a fuckin retard, and most of your points were unclarified and some even unjustified. Think about what you say before you say it.
Now, for the short little points. Once again, no reason for why Cartoon Heroes shouldn't be a 10? It's obviously a much harder AA than most other 9s. I'm pretty sure most everyone knows that Sakura is 320 BPM after the slowdown. It's still just 4th streams (ROFL) with short 8th patterns thrown in once in a while. It should be a weak 9, if anything. And since when is the point of all 10s supposed to be fast? What if it had a moderate speed, but there were just short bursts or something? What if it was filled with 8th jumps at 200 BPM?
And for the last thing. I cannot stress this enough. Speed mods are in the options appropriately labeled DIFFICULTY MODIFIERS. Obviously, Bag is a lot harder on 1x than 3x. If Bag on 1x is just as hard for you as Max300 and the other 10s, then you can't say OMG NO WEI SHUD IT BE A 10 COS ITS SUPAR EZ ON 8X DOOD. The speed mods modify the difficulty of the song, and in Bag's case, turn a moderate 10 into an easy 8 or so.
And as for Cartoon Heroes... I think it should be a 9 still. I mean, the only actually difficult part is a jump-step-jump-step-jump. Also, when you (if I remember correctly) have to gallop and then jump for a one footed freeze. Other than that, it's a 9.
Yes I understand u probably coud make tough jump steps at 200 bpm and it be a 10 but the point I was makeing is Ya max300 is easy if u slowed it down of course but then isnt evrythin else? especially legend of max because its spaced out quite a lot but the reason its so hard is its fast.
And another way u look at it, PSMO is only about the same number of steps and difficulty of steps until about rite before the freeze is where it really gets harder because there isnt many crossovers before that.
If u made any of the 10s slower they woud all be easy but the reason they are 10s is because of their speed except bag, and yes it should stay a 10.
AND I have to repeat myself dont I
Cartoon Heroes shouldnt be a 10 because 1, its steps arent as hard, 2 its not as tireing. Think about it like this Cartoon heroes looks hard on normal of course because it goes 170 but what if they shrunk max300 down to that but still made the steps as fast. It woud be all 150 1/16ths thru out the whole song and if that were the case Probly evry1 woud say its a 10 And thats also why Bag is a 10 because it IS that hard to read.
Across the nightmare oni is the closer to a 10 then any 9..but other then that there are plenty of songs that should be switched...
and Genom Screams double should be a 9 not a ten..
So Deep double should be a 10
Across the Nightmare Oni... haven't played it in Doubles but on Singles, I think it should definately be a 9 (and it is). There's no fanciness. If you look at the groove radar it looks hella-hard but once you're playing it it's just LRLRLRLRLRLRLR. I have trouble with Max300 sometimes, never with Across the Nightmare.
It's a cool coincidence that you mentioned Genom Screams and So Deep double because I played both today.
Firstly, I suck at Doubles, but I could kill So Deep 9-foot. I got a B in it. So, I don't know, maybe it just follows a pattern that you're not used to. I fail at 7-footers (but still decided to play So Deep against better judgement), and had no prob. Am I just naturally inclined toward that pattern? Guess so
Genom Screams. Hm. Well, you know when you've never played DDR before and you play a song on Beginner or Light and you look at the arrows, hopelessly trying to follow them? I haven't felt that way in over a year, but it happened today. I played Genom Screams Double for a final stage. All I saw was a mess of arrows moving toward the top of the screen. So looks like you're good at that pattern, to say that it should be rated 9 8)
The moral of the story: everyone is great at certain stuff and sucks at certain stuff. If you think a song has an overrated difficulty, play that song, becuase it probably means you're good at it compared to most people.
Ok first of all any1 who says dropout should be or was originally an 8 is an idiot.
The only reason it was ever an 8 is cuz back in the early mixes thats as high as the solo song rateing went U idiots.
Friendly.
Drop Out wasn't that hard. Sure, it's a nine, but it's a east-to-medium 9 with a lot of breaks. A few jump swarms, a big "hellrun" at the end (which, might I add, didn't make you move around as much as it could have... it was pretty simplistic. It deserves to be an 9, but it's not outlandish to say it could be an 8 (considering Witch Doctor and all).
Umm... what? I'm going to try to interpret this mess, correct me if I thought you said something else, I can hardly read this. I never said anything about slowing things down. If you slow down the whole song rate, DUH it's going to make the song easier. What makes a song hard is how hard the steps are, not the scroll rate. I don't know which you mean when you say a song is fast, the scroll rate, or the density of the steps.

You could say that about any 10 footer except for Sakura or Bag.

Once again, scroll rate, or density of steps? And a song doesn't have to be streamy to be hard.

Okay, I'm going to reconsider. Cartoon Heroes should be a hard 9. Granted, a lot of what you said is just plain ridiculous. Why aren't its steps hard? That's what I asked, you didn't need to repeat yourself. Yes, stamina isn't as much of a factor for Cartoon Heroes as it is for Max300, I'll give you that one. But they DIDN'T 'shrink' Max300 to 150 BPM, which would have made it WAY harder. A slower scroll rate makes it harder to read, unless you're talking about like 600 and 300, it's that simple. Cartoon Heroes is harder to READ than Max300, unless you have a reaction time of, like, two seconds XD But I'm trying to disagree, Novacaine, not especially trying to flame... unlike this guy...

HAHA, you're a funny guy. That's a nice post ya got there. And anyway, what happened to second off? First off, asdf, and that's it? And who said ANYONE couldn't pass MaxX Unlimited? Go the hell away, and never come back, retard.
We can do this all week if I have to
I did NOT say cartoon heroes steps arent hard. I just meant theyre not as hard as max300 and thats a fact U cant argue that.
AND i meant the steps arent that hard BUT because of theyre scroll rate it makes them harder.
And no a song doesnt have to be streamy to be hard but it has a way higher stream than cartoon heroes not just a little so that woud make it harder. I woudnt have started this argument if that guy didnt say Max300 shoud be a hard 9 because it shoud definately stay a 10, and it is harder than evry other 9 in the game PERIOD.
Sorry, this is what I meant to say. Why aren't its steps as hard? You're right, Max300 is harder. I just wanted a justification. Hopefully this clears something up, my post was pretty vague =/
Tsutseto had an argument, though. Max300 could be a hard 9, it would just be harder than any other nine. You know, the line between 9 and 10 is beyond thin - it's undefined. Or, at least, undefined by true difficulty. It IS defined by comparison of what Konami GIVES us. So we really shouldn't be arguing about this at all
Mostly, I believe, 10 stands for either a LOT of stamina, or good reaction skills. I mean... here's the break down of 10's:
LoM - VERY fast, so you must have good reaction and stamina.
Max 300 - Mostly due to stamina. Not that hard to read if you play a number of songs that are above 200 BPM at 1.5x.
MaxX Unlimited - Just reacting to the freeze arrows, that's all.
Sakura - Reaction to speed changes
Bag - Hard to read, so some people can't react unless they press and arrow so they can see the next one clearly
PS - Stamina run
PSM - Another Stamina run
PSMO - Dead out kill you stamina run.
Yeah, that's that. I THINK that's all the ten footers... at least for singles.
CHROMER had the argument that Max300 could be a hard 9.
rofl
Yeah, that all makes sense, Tsuteto. You should put that in the Max Guide thread, which is most likely soon to be stickied. Only thing I disagree with in it is the breakdown of MaxX Unlimited. The two things I find hard about it are doing the 8th into the jump jump jump jump thing, and finding enough energy in me to do the streams at the end.
Also, keep in mind that Konami is more inclined to give higher ratings to songs made by in-house artists. Then they don't have to worry about license renewal and whatnot. If there was a 10 footer in one version and not in the next, people might complain. When all their 10-footers are supplied by in-house artists, no problem.
I think the reason Sakura is a 10-footer is:
a) I guess some people could theoritically find it tricky when the tempo is winding down (it's somewhat continuous, not like, say, Wild Rush where it changes a finite amount every few measures).
b) The feel of the song made it fitting for Legendary Road, but they sure as hell can't put a 9-footer in the Legendary Road course.
c) *mumbles*14 BPM step. Though I don't know if anyone actually has trouble with that after learning it.
That being said, if we're playing with regular energy bars, Sakura feels way too easy to be a 10-footer. I beat in Double mode on Final Stage for God's sake (keep in mind that this is someone who sometimes fails 7-footer double steps on 2nd stage).
Bag is a 10-footer because you're not supposed to change modifiers for that song, at least not when you're playing it for real. I reccomend using mods the first time out though.
MAX300 is a 10-footer because believe me, it's draining, at least when you're new to 10-footers. I could do Cartoon Heroes and So Deep before Max300 (though Cartoon Heroes is tough, remember though, it's licensed and might not be in the next cabinet). Max300 has 1/8 note crossovers (well, by that I mean down, left, up) at its trickiest part... they're hard to land IMO. Easy 10 when you're used to it, but still worthy of the name.
And I don't think anyone else is questioning the others.
