As for Bamboozler, here's how it works:
Even if you want to spell a different word, it counts if you put the last letter on an word.
Say you wanted to spell "quitter."

Quit
You would lose if you put the T there, and the next poster would start a new word. It also depends if the poster read the rules. For example, if the poster finishes a real word and knows they did, and then started a new word on their own, then they didn't read the rules. Thus you can continue the finished word, ignoring the new one.
Did I clear it up?
