This is just a suggestion, I looked through some pages first to see if it was already posted and I didn't see anything, so here it is.

Wouldn't it be cool if we could maybe pay Synthlight or something to change our username? kinda like on XBL? I just thought maybe some people (Like Me) wanted to simplify their name, or change it because it isn't what they like anymore. Anyone else share the same opinion?

Unfortunately, to my understanding it's a huge undertaking to change someone's name throughout the database. So, not as simple as one would think.

Also, I'm not a fan of changing names, regardless.

well thats where the monetary compensation comes into play.
it would help the site financially too.
maybe get rid of some lame ads.

If it were just the forums, that would be simple. But since user's names run through so many different things throughout the whole of the site, a lot has to be changed. So it's a nice idea in itself, and I like it, but it would just be too expensive/confusing with so many people on the site... Best bet is to just create a new account. For just forums or whatever.

well honestly i have no idea how the data is handled in a forum
but if i were a programmer and i wanted to make it so people could change their name
i would just make some sort of "display name" for every account and set it to the the account name.
then a request could be made to change the "display name"
so instead of changing an existing thing just add a new thing, ya know?

if you wanna change your username, just make another account, transfer all your credits to it, canel the previous account, and let everyone know who you are on the new account

For people like EAG and I, and people who have played almost every song the best we can to get a good avrank, this would be an impossibility.

I've dealt with this before on websites, and it can get pretty messy. With the lack of admins around as is, it really won't work right now... but maybe, MAYBE if staff ever becomes more active, there's a possibility.

the backend of FFR is a mess. there are countless different systems for different areas of the site. it's a pain in the rear to try to change usernames without the possibility of breaking something for that user.

It's not too big of a deal if you don't have too many good scores, and even forum post count isn't much lol.

I switched and made my scores of the songs I have played have better scores after I had switched. Didn't have many AAA's nor forum posts so it didn't matter much in my case.

But it's sad this wouldn't really be possible for someone like EAG.
