meh tokens really don't do much but this is a cool idea... maybe instead of song its like 500 credits or something... not 500 but just like some credits. the difficulty of the token will effect the amount of credits

Ok guys, for the sake of furthering this endeavor and not letting it die like so many others, I have compiled some ideas that have popped up in this thread that I think could be good. More stars = more confidence from me.

"it would be a good idea to have them released only for one week, starting with easter, every year." NinjaKIWI, ★★, a bigger window of opportunity, but may result in massive token begging, and people may not find all the tokens. May not sit well with some simfile artists.

"Perhaps there could be a contest where FFR members submit possible egg locations, and the ones that get accepted have their eggs named after them. a.k.a. TassEgg, RubixEgg, SynthEgg... etc." Kairon, ★★★, people can suggest locations, a little biased since those who came up with the token idea will get it easily, but that can be handled with a limit as to how many ideas can be submitted/accepted.

"Maybe there could be a contest to see who could find the most 'eggs' on Easter day. The tokens would remain active permanently after the event of course, but a contest on the day would add a little more zest to the event, without preventing people who aren't around on Easter from ever playing the songs." Kairon, ★★★★, Probably the least unfair and most doable way of giving special attention to Easter day

"Perschnapps, as far as hints go, you could get batches of hints for finding batches of eggs, and the batches get increasingly harder to find. For example, you start off with hints for eggs 1-5. If you find all 5 eggs, (or maybe 4 of the 5 eggs, to make it easier if there's one you're completely stuck on) you get the hints for eggs 6-10, and so on. And, of course, eggs 6-10 would be harder to find than 1-5. This hint system would probably only be active on the day, while the contest is going on. After the event is over, all the hints could be released at once." Kairon, ★★★, good idea of the system.

"Have a special prize available for each [token] you find. While I understand each token would get you a song, maybe have it so that on easter day, you get 100 credits or something small with it as well. Then, after easter, the tokens would still be available, but that extra prize would not be. " funmonkey54, ★★, I don't want anybody to unfairly miss anything, and there might be some issues with that from an administrative standpoint, but a good idea.

Ooh, 10 stars of confidence? Apparently I'm an idea guy now. Yay!

In reference to the location suggestion idea, I was thinking of probably a non-admin limit of 1 or 2 eggs. That way, you can't walk away with a bunch of free tokens, but if you do come up with a good location and get your egg made, you essentially get that egg for free as a reward.

Don't let this thread die! I want to see this plan get put into action!

I would be pissed if only 10 or even 100 people could play a simfile of mine. I'd be sad if it were a limited number of tokens given out or even time-limited.

Don't you have enough public stepfiles to allow a Challenging bluguerrilla stepped Skill Token? And yeah, a time limit on any Token would be hardkore bull****.

This died on me! Well, I pretty much have an idea of the final product now.

The FFR Easter Token Hunt

• On Easter Sunday, 2009, up to 66 tokens (maybe even more!) will be released all around the site for users to find. (I want to get the number of regular tokens equal to or over skill tokens, but if that can't happen for whatever reason, it's fine, as long as the event doesn't end up painfully small.)
• People may suggest locations for tokens. It might provide a small bias since those who came up with the token idea will get it easily, but that can be handled with a limit as to how many ideas can be submitted/accepted, and not letting people know if their ideas have been accepted or not.
• For a limited time, there may be a contest as to who can procure the most tokens. The top token-hunters would be rewarded with special prizes. This contest has nothing to do with the permanence of the tokens, to be fair to those who couldn't make it.
• There may be a unlockable hint system to assist you in your quest for tokens, depending on its plausibility from a programming standpoint. For example of such a system, the tokens may be numbered from easiest to hardest, and arranged in "sets" according to difficulty. After collecting a number of tokens in a set, you would receive a hint that would clue you in to the next set of more difficult tokens.

Some theoretical code for ya:

set1=token35,token36,token37,token38,token39,token40,token41; (Set 1 consists of tokens 35-41.)
if set1 is 4/7 complete, then load entity "set2hints" for <username> (If you find 4 out of the 7 tokens in Set 1, you will be shown hints to tokens in Set 2)

It would continue in this way, each set of tokens getting progressively harder and the requirements greater.

Things that we need for this event

• ADMINISTRATIVE APPROVAL. Before we do anything, we need admins to pay attention to this thread and decide if its a good idea or not. WE MUST DO THIS AS SOON AS POSSIBLE, BECAUSE WE NEED ALL THE TIME WE HAVE.
• Graphic artists who are willing to make token images for the event. We are short on token images, and I don't know if mine are up to scratch, so we need you guys!
• Lots of time to brainstorm, plan and test! This is why we need to get going!

I dunno chidori...it only lists 46 songs in the queue as of now. I would think we'd have significantly more that that by April though, but I can't be sure...that might be a deciding factor as well.

Sounds like a lot of fun.. but it'd be better if it was on Halloween. (because it's closer than Easter)
