    Re: Tournament bans

It'd be easier to have it all embedded within the game. For example, it would say 9/1/2007 6:22:14PM on the lower left-hand side, and on the lower-right hand side, it'd show something like ef2a70deb3543f913eb70d7f56364cb2

Only the admins of the site would know exactly how the information from the score would be arranged for encryption. You'd simply go to the scorechecker, input 9/1/2007 6:22:14PM for a given user, and see the score they got if it was indeed recorded. Easy!

For the more complicated cases where the score was not recorded (or, if someone was cheating):

Say someone posted a score of a Neomax AAA at 9/1/2007 6:22:14PM, and it gives the string 6bdbcf4fbceffbdac75b13564a63bb08 in the lower right-hand corner. You'd go to the checker function, type in the user's name, their score breakdown, the time from the screenshot, as well as 6bdbcf4fbceffbdac75b13564a63bb08. It would spit back "Score is OK" if the encryptor from the input matched, and "Score is fake" if not. This means the score was legitimate even if it wasn't recorded anywhere in the database, and otherwise means the score never happened.

There is no way to get around it because you wouldn't know how the string is arranged where the encryption is taking place -- it's something only the admins would know. It renders Photoshopping of screenshots 100% useless.

Picking up from where I was, YOU need to look at their profiles yourselves. And yes it does say when the game was played. Reason Im telling you why you need to look yourselves is for obvious reasons. You cant shop the site if you are on it.

        ps:

I like Rubix's idea. In fact, there should be a way for any user who wishes to validate a score to enter the encryption key in a checkbox and you'd get a "valid" or invalid" score by "user".

Now now, don't get too complicated. Anyways, say all of it was implemented! yayayayay. Person got caught. Now what? Tourney ban would need to be implemented.

                I like Rubix's idea.

But make it so that there's a few users who are specifically assigned to check scores and such.

                Legitimate, trustworthy members, of course.

I'm sure admins wouldn't appreciate receiving hundreds of PMs just from tournament organizers not to mention skeptics.

                    Re: Tournament bans

Well, he didn't necessarily "fake" it, it was an old SS, and you're required to post one that you've gotten after the round's song has been posted.

Also, sweet_feet deleted his post, but it was seen by lXD, frenzy, hammy and such. http://www.flashflashrevolution.com/...=73999&page=17 to see lXD's comment along with the rest of our reactions.

EDIT: He admits in this post

as far as the score-legitimifier (new official name) goes, it should record only your last 1000-1500 songs because wouldn't that really weigh down on the server? Who plays 1500+ games in a few days anyways? (except excite bike whores)

No big deal about the whole Excite Bike thing. Anyone who is worried about someone calling bs on there score just has to not whore Excite Bike for a few days, and there would be no problem. If this were to happen, I'd think 1000 or even just all scores within the last 10 days or something like that would be enough.

Well, I'm glad to see some progress being made, but what about being banned (can't access) the whole tourney subforum for x amount of days? As for sweet, you should let the tourney he's holding finish before taking any action if there will be any.
