DDR is a dance simulator played on a large dance pad.

FFR is a music rhythm game played on a keyboard.

Similar concept, but because of the difference in operation, they're different enough in my opinion to avoid Konami ever sueing in any instance (or, at the very least, to not be able to win any lawsuits).

Yes, the lawsuit resulted over Roxor's use of Konami's cabinets.

And, yes, FFR is like DDR. Halo is like Wolfenstein 3D. Sonic is like Mario. All game genres have their roots from somewhere and update it so I don't really get at what point you're trying to make. Even regardless of a keyboard vs. dance pad difference, it's like saying all driving games in an arcade are the same as Pole Position and all light gun games in the arcade are the same as Duck Hunt Vs.

I have allways wished there was a FFR, or stepmania cabnet at my movie theatre... Since you all think konami would sue, why not get a huge motherload of people to suggest them making one themselves to put in an arcade. then synthlight could sue them for using his ****! lol jk

I know this is a little out there, but have you ever thought of going through some arcade center and wishing there was a FFR Arcade console? I mean, I went around an Arcade Center once and I wished there was a FFR console with all the FFR songs and such, were I could show off my skills publicly. Have you ever wanted to see a FFR Arcade console and play on it at any Arcade Center?

It sounds great at first, but then I realize that it would be much more impressive to show off my DDR/ITG skills than my finger speed on a keyboard. So it's not entirely a bad idea to me, but I probably wouldn't be near it if there's a DDR machine close by.

Konami filed a lawsuit against Roxor Games on an infringement of various rights on May 9, 2005. Additionally, they amended their complaint on July 1, 2005 to include the dance game "MC GROOVZ danceCRAZE" (a game produced by Mad Catz to accompany their 3rd party dance mat). Konami primarily claims that Roxor has infringed their dancing game patent rights, but also goes on to accuse Roxor of trademark infringement, false advertising and unfair competition.

ITG fans were quick to criticise the lawsuit, pointing out that Konami's Japanese arcade games are illegal in the United States. However, as with the Konami v. Andamiro lawsuit which took place years ago, Konami believe they have a strong case and are prepared to stand by it.

On October 18, 2006, Roxor announced that Konami has acquired the intellectual property rights to the In the Groove series as part of the settlement to this litigation.[2]
