From experience, I know that just keeping on playing will make my fingers a bit faster, but with diminishing returns. There usually are some exercises and activities outside the game that can increase your skill in single areas of the game immensely, and techniques you can use to get better immediately.

I'm sure others have had this problem as well. Is there anything specific you recommend me to do, other than doing some stretches and grip exercises? I'm already ambidextrous and an adept in pen spinning and juggling, and already
warm up my fingers and hands before playing.

If you are pretty good yourself, got this way by 'just keeping on playing' and you are not in the top ~10 despite wanting to be, you should probably look for things like this to get better too.

I know there was another topic about this somewhere, but that one was just filled with 'JUST PLAY MORE LULZ' and random jokes. I also dislike bringing up old topics, so I created a new one to have a clean sheet on which people can put their tips.
this is many people's issue, and my major one. There isn't a single song I can't read every note one singularly, but my fingers won't move. To develop it, you want to play fast songs and don't mash, just try and hit the notes with your reading no matter how slow your hands are, and really mentally 'force' your fingers to move, they won't be on autopilot at the speed but try to jam them onto those notes! Eventually you'll get faster, and faster, and faster. How I get faster at least. Also play SM hardpack works wonder.
It's getting better all the time
I used to get mad at my school (No, I can't complain)
The teachers who taught me weren't cool (No, I can't complain)
You're holding me down (Oh Oh)
    Turning me round (Oh Oh)
Filling me up with your rules (Oooh)

i seem to have the issue as-well, i am getting better but very slowly, i have never been able to pen spin but i can juggle and coin crop which helps with dexterity but in my case dexterity is not the problem, it is all the speed in which my fingers move with accordance to my brain seeing the notes, i am playing more and more songs per day and attempting to non boo FC diff 9's which i am unable to do at the moment. i agree that playing songs that are too hard for yourself is a great way of getting better skill level but it gets annoying not FCing what you are able to with mashing. i never used to warm up before i started playing but i have started to now and i am getting better and better. i have to agree that it is all with practice even though i am not a great FFR player i still think it makes a difference to continue playing every day.

        No joke here ^^^

Super fast skillboost trying to do decent on even half those crazy-ass songs. Make sure you have judgement 4 at least though, really helps working on your PA.

I've been doing 20 minutes of juggling as a warming up these days. If you're at 5+ balls, your arms / hands will be blazing hot when you're done.

yea i know, i used to be able to do that but i am just doing 3's at the moment but all doing tricks and not just normal runs so it gets a burn going after a while but it does not help my fingers it gets my arms going so pen spinning and coin cropping is the best to do from what i have found.

I've recently found that doing a Rubenstein's Revenge with 1 kg balls increases your tapping speed immensely, and is a great warming up.
