Classical songs can indeed by copyrighted depending on who performs them and the age of the song when it was performed/recorded.

You would only own the rights to the recording, not the actual song.

Anything over 90 years(?) old is in pubic domian. It can be used by anyone for any reason. For example, record it, then sell the rights to a record label.

Well anyway, I guess to keep it updated... I've downloaded stepmania and am practicing making stepfiles by doing "Over my Head" by Lit for a starter. Hmm it'd be nice if I get permission to use that on FFR... well like that's going to happen I have 1 question now... is it impossible to have 3 or 4 arrows on one line in FFR? I did that for one line in the stepfile I'm making so... just want to know.

I believe you can copyright a performance or recording. From what I have been reading this is possible even when a song is out of copyright because of age. You copyright the recording not the song itself therefore making it illegal for some to use your recorded work.

ok, so now I have 3 questions.

1) Like I asked before... is there something wrong with having 3 or 4 arrows on one line? Can it be done in FFR?

2) I'm using 12 step time or whatever it's called. What do those red arrows mean? Are they supposedly offbeat or are they just decoration?

3) Um I knew this question last night... but I can't remember it right now... I'll ask it if I remember it.

No, it's not right having more than 2 arrows at the same time. Morality issues.
I might be able to be done though.
12th notes are just different timed notes, not necessarily offbeat.

1) I remember question number 3. It's actually a playing question. You know how the arrows on stepmania only dissapear when you get a perfect or a good? Is there any way to make them dissapear as long as you hit them like ffr?

2) I should probably mention, I finished my first stepfile for Over My Head last night. I know that some of the parts are offbeat though, so I need to edit those parts before it's actually finished for good.

Allright will do. I only had 3 lines with four beats on them anyway so it's not hard to change. Anyway, I've drawn to the conclusion that red arrows are to help you decide that they're offbeat. They seem to come every 3 beats, and the majority of the time they have been offbeat, though not all the time. Anyway, I'm pretty much finished now.

This applies to FFR:

The only stipulation is that FFR doesn't use MIDIs (I think). you have to convert the MIDI to MP3 or .OGG first. I don't think these terms cover that, but it probably isn't a problem as long as it's not remixed or altered after that.

One last issue is where to put the banner that guy requires. Under the FFR window? Because that
s the only place where they'll hear the music.

Oh right! I just remembered! You people use the arrow keys whereas I use the numberpad. On the #pad you can have four fingers on an arrow at all times so it is extremely easy to press all four at once.
