Realtime doesnt work for me, because if i click it it just goes to higher. Also, we have 5 computers in our house, and when I did this, the internet went out on all of them.

actually, this is not a very smart idea. Sure it speeds it up, but if your computer has < 1GB ram this could be risky.

First of all, you are taking resources away from essential processes. If you are using IE, like me, which is a resource hog, and using ~150mb of RAM already, setting the priority to the highest will almost always cause crashes in some programs, most likely in explorer.exe.

So, I would like to add, use at your own risk.

And NEVER, NEVER set a process' priority to below normal if you want to free space up. NEVER!

Hah, I'm running vista, and in my whole life, its lagged once, and I had AIM MSN and VC open, and in multiplayer, with 2 viewers talking during the song.

You aren't good enough to notice the lag. It's there. Trust me.

I've thought of this but I've never bothered to try it, guess I'll give it a shot.

Edit: Lags worse. Time to upgrade to XP.

come on this is common knowledge, how do you people not know of this? Anyway, i use this all the time works well as long as I don't have too many songs loaded. Some times the memory usage gets up to 100 000k and then lag gets bad. With only a few songs loaded (like 10-20) the performance boost is great.

End "explorer" process tree, then open it again. (By using Ctrl Alt Del, taskmanager, newtask, explorer) That usually kills 10 - 30 processes, depending on the amount of crap on your computer.

Run
type msconfig

Select the startup tab.

Untick all the programs that you dont wish to have running in the background when your computer starts up. e.g. Daemon tools, limewire ect.

Restart.

Anyway, this didn't do anything for me, FFR runs pretty much at it's best even without me having to do this =/
