No, you missed it, I couldn't FC AFTER switching to spread. Using 1 hand, I AAAed it too.

i always thought about switching to 2 hands. now that my 1 hand has built up speed and stamina, its too hard to even try switching now. so yea i stayed 1 hand lols.

It takes practice to switch.
I've been a one-hander since I've started playing this game. And after a few weeks of summer whoring however many songs on Stepmania, I developed my spread past my one-hand ability. It doesn't take very long to build up stamina/speed with your other hand, but it does take time to build up coordination (if you don't play instruments and stuff, that is) That's the case for me, anyway.
It's not like you should feel obligated to switch or something; if you like the style your playing with, you should stick to it.

Most people I talk to say I should switch to one-handed...but I'm too stubborn to...so I'm gonna be one handed just to show 'em :3

sword, i like the style of 1 hand, but the problem is my PA. ive played the piano for 11 years now so im good with both my hands, it just doesnt want to happen on ffr lol.

I play the violin, so my left hand had decent training =P
I just basically balanced them by playing one handed for about a year.. lol.


My PA isn't very good either. ><

Play some Stepmania, turn up the judge. It actually does help.
Again, I'm basing this off experience.

I'm a one hander. One of the best too. The only thing right now that is holding me back is my keyboard and my fractured wrist. I can still almost FC J219 as well...

Well, I personally, can't one-hand for my life's sake. I can do Easy songs with one hand... maybe Standard, at best.
I'm a proud spreader; I find it way easier... but for the past few months, I haven't used the arrow keys at all. My hands are just too big, and they start to cramp after a lot of playing... I prefer using the NumPad, it feels more traditional, in a sense. It feels like I'm playing on a palm-sized DDR mat, to be honest. Make sure NumLock is on first, though.

If you want to get good fast, just play a two-handed style. A year of spread has gotten me better than 25 years of one-handed would have. Realistically, you cannot get as good one-handed as you can get spread if you want to get impressive scores such as AAA's on masters songs and FC's on guru's songs. (technically it's possible to get that good, but, of course, it isn't practical for people, because it would take too long)

I see that there are a handful of skilled one handers out there...I thought I was just doing something wrong before. I'm just going to keep doing what I'm comfortable with for now and gradually switch over. Thanks for all the advice everyone.

i play one hand, three fingers, and the best i could fc is difficult.

i've tried to switch over to two hands, but i just can't get it down. it frustrates me.

I'd been one-handed from 2003-2007 (I switched to two-handing during the summer) and it had worked fine with me. Average rank of about 200 on most songs before I switched. However, it took much longer to improve with 1 hand as I went on. I improve like wtfux with two-handing.

1 handing definitely has its limitations, such as speed, jumpstream, etc.
And yes, I would know. The choice is up to you though. If you switch, you will improve quickly. You gradually get better at one hand but it definitely takes more time.
